Sorry I've never been into bike racing. I just like to ride. Over the years I'vs seen training plans in Bicycling magazine. Keep searching around the web. I'm sure you'll find something. You could do a spin class and will probably learn a lot of introductory stuff there. Then you could join a bike club and pick the brains of the senior members.

If you're really shy then mountain biking's for you. Of course you have to like getting dirty and dusty and hanging out with the wild critters.

Check out <a href="http://www.bikeforums.net" target="_blank">www.bikeforums.net</a>. or any triathlon related sites. They usually have training plans.
