can avatars be moderated? Someone posted a thread, probably a joke, yank your chain thread, but people mentioned that if that avatar was up, they would not be able to look at the forum at work. Can we adjust the new forum rules about avatars? I really do not want to look at some womans ass. Or even a bare mans chest.<br><br>

ACTUALLY, I'm glad you brought this up.<br><br>
Here's the issue: (and hear me out first)<br><br>
If we start 'moderating avatars' short of pornography, then we will be having to make judgement calls about more and more avatars.<br><br>
As much as I appreciate the comments - when put side by side to arrojo's avatar - there really is no difference. Go through and read the 'swoon' comments from the females of the board regarding his.<br><br>
I'd like to think we are adults and will be able to self moderate ourselves. I knew Doctor Wu's post was a joke and I did discuss it with him. I told him that IF he chose to use that as his avatar, then do it because he REALLY FEELS thats what represents who he is and NOT to just jerk chains...<br><br>
As you can see he doesn't have it as his avatar.<br><br><br>
IF an objectionable avatar is posted, we will deal with it on a case by case avatar - I will communicate with the person via admin account and discuss it with them. Unless it is:<br><br>
1. Explicitly Pornographic<br>
2. Extremely violent in Nature<br>
3. Intended to create and stir complete chaos here...<br><br>
I don't intend to 'bar' someones avatar - there is NO way to win that war. I would rather turn off avatars if it became an issue. BUT - I have enough faith in the peer pressure of the board and the overall tone we set to keep this in check.<br><br><br>

i did not think arrojo's was great or swoonable either. I know you do not want to censor, but i think it was a borderline pornographic image and many people did post that they did not think it was appropriate. Besides coolrunning, every other forum i have ever been to has been heavy handed with the moderating, so i do not think some moderating is bad. This is just my opinion and i wanted to clear the air. I know it puts you in a tight spot.<br><br>

SO.. THAT in itself, will enourage people to not use those types of avatars...<br><br><br>
Anyway.. Merigayle - Please don't hold back - discuss here ARGUE with me.. it's OK!!! If you guys disagree - SAY SO!!! I depend on you to do that.<br><br><br>
