Up SUPER early to finish my presentation slide deck by the start of business, so no run until this afternoon (if at all). Worked until almost 10 last night after getting into the office by 6:30 am. Wondering if the Chicago marathon is realistic. Doesn't really seem like it. :(

That's a lot of workin'. Sounds like you need a day off...

I ran an easy 4 yesterday and I'll probably have just about enough time to do the same thing today. I felt good yesterday, so that's a good thing. Tomorrow will probably be my first tough workout of the week...

Oh, I bought my plane tickets to Minneapolis, finally. I wanted to buy 'em before the prices went up at all. I'll be flying into MSP on Fri Oct 1 at 11:00am-ish and leaving on Mon Oct 4 at 11:00am-ish. Since some of our Twin Cities residents have offered their place to crash, I'll be saving tons of $ on lodging, and thus I have no problem renting a car and driving people around. (I still don't know who I'll be staying with, since I've been offered a place to crash by multiple people; I'll be happy to be wherever you guys stick me). Anyway, if anyone else can arrange their flights to something close to what I just got, it'll make for an easy carpool.

Hmm, maybe I should be posting this in the TCM thread...

Greetings, all.

Spinning last night was fantastic. Like running, I sort of have a love/hate relationship with the class, but I always leave it feeling glad that I went in the first place. 4-6M are on tap tonight, depending on what the legs will do. I'm thinking pretty soon, I may just need to take a couple of days off of running and spinning just to give them a much-needed break. Haven't figured out when that will be, just yet!

7k this morning...sweatfest! I didn't have time to jump in the pool to cool off before work, either. Finally starting to cool down now.

There's 2 races next week. A 5k on monday morning and a 5 mile on wednesday evening. I plan on hitting both. I'm thinking I'll do the 5k on my own, try and get a good time on it. But I'll have to take the girls in the stroller on wednesday because DH is working that evening. It'll be Evelyn's first official run. :)

5 miles done this morning, with a couple striders at the end to see if I can even run fast anymore

Grabbed a bowl of cereal, and now I'm heading to the pool for a short swim.

Workout at the new/old gym was fine this morning. They've made a lot of changes since I was there last, and have a lot more planned.

I also reconnected with a coworker I used to run with every now and then. She's also had a rough year, so we're going to try to get together a few times and try to build back up.

Hope everyone gets some rest today. Seems like most of us need it!

I went to bed at 8:30 last night and I did get my but tup this morning but not out the door quickly enough to get the full 9 miles in - only 7. Rats. But that's way better than any morning run I've ever done before so I guess I'll take it!

I set the alarm for 4:30 and got up a little before 5 - I had a weird tummy this morning, might have been the Mr Pizza for dinner last night. I managed to get a piece of toast in but that's it, even coffee didn't sound appealing. Had to walk the dog quick so I knew before I got running that it was farging humid and warm out there. I checked when I got back and before I started running - 74 degrees and 94% humidity at 5:45 a.m.! Total sweatfest.

Glad you East Coasters are getting a break from the heat n humidity, even if it's a short break.

Ailarie - I really like spinning but I never seem to get myself to a class anymore. You're inspiring me to get there and do it!

Hey, everyone! Got out for 3 miles this morning. The rain has kept the morning temps in the low 70s, but it's super humid (87%). Add full sun and I was sweating. Still, I managed to get mile 2 under 11:00, which is something I haven't accomplished in a while. I wasn't even trying to run fastish, it just happed, so that was fun when I looked at my splits.

I'm still glowing a little from this weekend's volunteering at the state games. Some of the track club guys were there (the fast middle-aged ones who win a ton of races) and we chatted here and there throughout the day. At the end they thanked me for helping to make the meet fun, and I could tell that I'm on their radar now. Typing it out makes it look stupid, but I've been intimidated by the track club since I moved here (the really visible ones are so freaking fast! and cute!), and it gave me some warm fuzzies that I'm breaking into that crowd and that they appreciate me. I guess I'll always want to sit at the popular kids' table in the cafeteria, but these popular kids seem not to mind.

Morning. Pretty miserable attempt at a tempo run this morning. Got up and out the door. Obviously, it was warm and very, very humid. Started the tempo after a three mile "warm-up" (I was already drenched in sweat). Made it about a mile and a quarter and called it. Then began the slow jog home. I managed 8.25 miles and now am in the process of rehydrating. I only lost seven pounds on the run this morning.

I was hoping that run would tell me if I'm in shape enough to try for a decent time at Urban in two weeks. Guess that didn't go according to plan.

Debating on running tonight. But I think I'm moving my harder/longer runs to the morning. It's getting to be a bit too much for me to try and get the miles in at night in the heat.

Morning Gang -

Mindi - is there an end in sight to the work craziness? Hang in there!

Way to go BigG on the longest-ever early morning run!

Baggs - I wouldn't read too much into not being able to do a tempo this morning and having it be an indicator of Urban performance. This morning's humidity sucked! I was supposed to do 8 with 10 x 100m strides and only ended up doing 5 at an ultra slow pace. I had looked at the forecast before I went out and decided since the rest of the week looks relatively better, I would just do what I could today and shift everything else out to later in the week. Wait til Thursday and try your tempo then, I bet you will do well. Don't try it tonight with the heat advisory! You will end up dehydrated and disappointed!

Good runs to all today.

Hi all - ended up with about 4.75 mi of walking and running all told yesterday; a 3.5 mi leisurely roundabout walk to the ballpark and a 1.25 mi sprint to try to catch the BART train.

May or may not run after work tonight - we'll see.

Mindi - hoping the work nuttiness ends for you soon!

Good workouts to you all!

1500yds done in the pool. I was asked by another guy in the pool how I make it look so easy (HA!) and ended up sounding ridiculous giving him some pointers that I learned from my swim coach. I am in no way qualified to give swimming advice or anything, and I told him so -- but he was barely making it the length of the pool and he's doing his first tri in about a month. He had a great attitude, though, so I'm sure he'll have fun.

Baggs and RFTL -- I haven't been doing any speedwork with the babying of my calf this summer, so next weekend's Urban will just be a long run with a hard effort. Kindly remove that hard core humidity and heat advisory stuff before I get there, m'kay? Thx.

Holy crap, Baggs. That's over 3 liters of H2O in 8.25 miles! No wonder you felt like crap, you sprung a leak!

I think I'm going to mostly rest between now and the relay race. My ankle feels like crap, so I'll visit the trainers today and see if they can give me a supporting tape job. It feels better when I'm warmed up and running.
