1. Why do you run?
Sometimes I don't know. It's never been easy for me and I get so frustrated...but yet...I like that I can do what little I can. That no one would have ever thought I could run at all, least of all me.

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
Professionally, just getting my masters. Finding a job I'm good at.
Physically, probably walking the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.
Emotionally, letting go of some demons. They still creep in, but thinking I'm a good person, an attractive person, someone worthwhile and worthy, that's taken me many many years.

3. What is your motto/theme song?
Melius abundare quam deficere. I used to have it painted on my dining room wall.
Also, see #7

4. How do you deal with bad runs?
This weekend, I moped. I was mad. Usually, well, most of my runs aren't great. So I just deal and chalk it up to my lack of talent.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?
Not really. See above. After a long run, though, I'll eat what I want.

6. Who do you admire most?
My maternal grandmother. She had a long hard life, yet was always optimistic, and was openminded and unprejudiced. Actually, I admire all my grandparents, mostly for the same reasons.

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?
Don't bring problems, bring solutions.

8. What do wish you had learned younger?
That I'm not an just an awful ugly fat chick. Childhood is rough.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't?
Own a house at the ocean. Run fast.

10. How would your friends describe your personality?
Funny, warm, outgoing, kind, cranky, generous, weird. A good listener, but a good talker too. Creative, smart.

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit?
Compression shorts or skirt or tights, bra, wicking top. My fave is my Champion shorts and my green Hind top.

12. What has been your favorite race?
Philadelphia marathon series...I've run the 8K, the relay and this year the HM. And the Dankins tris.

13. Do you have a goal race right now?
Philly half.

14. What makes you happy?
My DH and my dog and cat. The ocean...always the ocean. Sun. Snow. Friends.

15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past.
I had Hodgkins Disease when I was 13. So I've had a biopsy, chemo, rads. Also, I don't know how to play chess and I just don't understand football.

16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!).
I don't know...people tell me so many things.

Wow. Great post. Every person's response has been markedly different and I feel like a gain a little insight each time someone posts. Thanks for sharing all that.

BTW, I agree with you about the ocean house! If you get one, I'm gonna come crash and stay the weekend, 'kay?

Hi Auntie Moe! Thanks for sharing your bio with us.

How long have you been running? I love what you said about it showing you that you can do something you never thought you could do.

Where and when did you do the 3-day breast cancer walk? My mom and I have talked about doing one someday.

(I don't understand football, either.)

Good luck to you in Philly!

Auntie Moe, I second Jen's sentiments! It was great meeting you when I was in Boston and getting a chance to get to know you a little. You're a fantastic person!! I totally "get" a lot of what you said though, childhood is indeed rough. But adulthood, now that's a party!

I'm glad you ventured out of the 30's thread and decided to join us here in the PRT too. See ya in Philly.

I did the Boston last year. I would def do it again, but it takes a lot of training and I found I had to stop running to walk. It's funny, the question this week about when you knew you were a runner. My response was that I run, but I'm not a runner. I amend that. I'm a walker who runs. I'm a very good walker. But the 3 Day is grueling...I was so tired at the end of Day 2, I was so tired, I cried through dinner and my friends had to force me to eat. But I would do it again.

Yes, that's me. I decided it would probably be better to post under a diff name (not because I'm afraid of stalkers, but because I had clients admit to googling me and asking me about my running! That kind of annoyed/creeped me!).

What was/is your name over there?

3 years ago last month. A friend suggested I go with her. She said she was slow (3 years later, I'm still slower than she was that time...sigh...she runs about a 10min mile).
