Up early to get ready for a 15 miler. With the rain and thunderstorm we got last night the run promises to be cool. Speaking of thunderstorm, we saw the coolest ones while visiting Maine and VT!

Dark Lord in running race shocker - Lambourn 5 mile.

Ok I confess that we rode the 16 miles to the venue but we arrived with about 20 min to get ready. Took a gel about 10 mins before the start and made sure I had got my fluids in.

Note: forgot my garmin.

Steady start and let people run past me but was in the top 10. By the first drinks station I was 5th and briefly missed a turn so dropped back to 7th. First mile marker was badly out(6.30), at this point I was running well and had moved to 4th place. Second mile marker was badly out(6.30). I was now closing down on 3rd place who I caught just before the 3 mile marker which was so far out(4.59) I could see 2nd place down the road but was never in the game. The last 2 miles were just me against the clock. Hit the grass and through the finish in 28.21.

I am rather surprised by the pace and maybe this shows that I am getting a little speed endurance back.

Good morning everyone! Thanks for starting on a such a positive and uplifting note, Mari. As of right now, my plans are to go to a local farmer's market with my running partner. I think she wants to run afterward, but I'm not sure I'm going to join her. I think I feel the need for a rest day. Would've liked to go to yoga class this morning, alas, I lingered over my coffee and missed my window yet again. Oh well, good thing there's such a thing as "tomorrow".

The cicadas are singing in full chorus. August is definitely here! Enjoy the day, all.

Barb got to ride her bike in her neighborhood yesterday. Used flat non clip pedals for now. Her right leg is weaker than the left and she is not able to unclip at this point.

Congrats to the relay team. They kicked some tail and took names!

congrats on a fine race gobi! and congrats on a fine run tomwhite!

13.5mi rolling. rolling a lot. garmin says over 2000 climb/drop feet; it was nasty, 8:15 avg pace. need a couple of more 200+ mi months before i can feel strong on a course like this one... and about 10 lbs less chub.

Well done Gobi!

Nice run MC after yesterday's tough workout.

When will we hear how the relay team did?

20 miles for me today. They ran out of water on the course when I was 5 miles from the end, so I struggled coming in. Not a cloud in the sky and 94 degrees, so I am pretty excited that I held it together those final miles. Spareribs

I was going to complain abut the heat in my intended 18-miler, but after Ribs' report, I guess 83F sounds cool. I only did 17.5 M. Good enuf for govment work. I knew today would be tough, as I started down a couple pounds from my run yesterday.

Nice race, Gobi

Tom, enjoy the Zen of running when it happens.

Plus 3 miles up the hill walking with Mr.Posie.

It was hot and humid...humid is relative I have been told. Very happy with this workout. Strong finish after some MP paces yesterday. This ends a 44 mile week for me. The longest weekly run since before my spring marathon.

Wow, some really nice runs out there today. I'm still sticking with my conviction to rest today, so I lent my Garmin to my running partner, since she wanted to confirm her long run today.

Farmer's market was nice, can't believe I've been living in the area for most of my life and I never knew it was there. Only picked up some corn and tomatoes. Starting to think about having a garden myself, actually. Maybe next summer.

Hello everyone. Nice 20 miler Ribs. I'm lovin' TW's blissful feeling.

MrC and I met RCG and the Rocket Scientist this weekend in a tiny town in Montana to run a half marathon yesterday (RCG and RS did the full). My husband and I ran together and our official finish time was 2:20. It wasn't my worst HM finish time but close. I am happy enough given the course, which was gravel and hilly but beautiful in a Montana prairie kind of way. I am very glad we did this event. Race morning was a bit balmy by Montana standards and tough on the turnaround with the sun strongly in our faces. We are happy to have this one done as MrC had been having some ITB/knee trouble. I had a little hip flexor pain during the last few miles -- a first time for that problem. We followed with a nice afternoon swim in the hotel pool, dinner with RCG, and a lovely drive home today.

Here's the Garmin info if you are interested.

Here's a photo from the event website of where the race was. We ran up that gravel road left of the center and headed to the Rocky Mountain Front.

15.54 miles @ 9:25 on the Greenway this morning with my group. I was pretty beat up from doing the Marine Corp. Mud Run yesterday @ Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC.....wasn't sure I'd be able to run today but sucked it up anyway this morning. The run started off real slow but my last split was below BQ pace so I'm happy with the run today.

Here are the Mud Monkeys yesterday right after the event...I needed to eat something and an apple was the closest thing I could find...haha.

I have just a little run to post ( 2 miles ), but was happy to get about 12 throws in today, and my youngest son may have found some motivation at the ESG's last week, as he decided to come along and throw with me.

Who wants to hear about a bunch of sweaty old people running in the high desert of Oregon...way overated......just kicked most of them out of the Socialist Society of Oregon, otherwise known as Portland.....somehow Opie still thinks he wants to stay here. He has decided that salmon dinner at our house sounds better than a burger at a local Motel 6.

Great racing and photo Choovie. I love hearing about the running adventures with your beloved. Sorry about the ouches, but that you had a great day and saw RCG and RS----even better.

Thanks for the Barb update ksrunr----she is amazing and inspiring.

TW---best description of a run ever. So happy for you and those days are worth bottling.

17 miles for me today---10 of those miles racing the Sea Legs Shuffle 10 mile race in Guilford, CT. Great views of the ocean and a fun race. 1:09:40 and a 50 second PR. Went out in 7:05 and brought it down and held it---happy since this was a 77 mile week and I am pushing it now. I was listed as a dude though and missed out on the 3rd in 40-49, but spoke with the timing results guy and the official listing should reflect my dudette status. 1 mile wu and 6 mile cd with Dr. J (she also snared a PR) to make it 17 miles on the day. Ocean air and sand in my shoes...Perfect!

WTG Gobi

Wowsa Ribs----nice mileage

No White River for me, I bowed out when the opportunity for a trail marathon (today) and a 12 hours race (Aug 15) appeared on the calendar. I think they will be better training for White River without the recovery time.

Today's marathon was slow going. 2,400 feet of elevation gain, lots of sharp rocks at the bottom and lots of roots and ruts the top half. It was just what I needed.

Great going relay team!

Lots of muddy goodness Peter!

Now I need to go back and read instead of just looking at the pictures.
