The U.S. Weather Bureau has issued a winter storm watch for Atlanta Sunday through Monday. But indications are we may be hit with significant snow as well as sleet and freezing rain which will bring us to a standstill early next week.

I guess I'll go get milk, eggs, bread, and some non-perishable products tonight. Because as we get closer to Sunday stores will be packed as if there were rumors that General Sherman was coming through again.

Interesting. I'm not the only one with the idea to get supplies tonight. Kroger wasn't packed but definitely milk and bread were flying off the shelves along with other foods that can last a few days.

We're going to Vegas on Thursday. GF from ATL, me from BUF

I told GF she should fly north and go from BUF with me because we don't have those cold snowy winters up here that disrupt travel like they do in Georgial.

In the past 5 years I have never missed a flight due to snow, ice or whatver in the north, but have had three cancelled because of snow in Atlanta.

I'm hoping to ski on Stone Mountain before the winter is out.

I'm going to come into the office Sunday and work from noon to 7pm so nothing is holding over for Monday. I can also dial in from home unless we lose power.

My office requires even if the office is closed that employees use PTO or go unpaid if they do not have enough PTO hours. So, I have sent a txt to my assistant asking her if she would like to work Sunday and schedule Monday off as she only has 3 hours PTO available. So far she hasn't responded. I'll give her a call in about an hour and see what she says. She is always complaining about not having enough money so here is her opportunity if she desires. I'll be mildy suprised if she takes me up on the offer to work Sunday.

snowing in Fort Worth. It started this morning during church and suddenly there was this buzz as every 6-yr-old in the congregation started saying "It's snowing - YES". Probably just an inch or 2.

There's an erie calm across the City of Atlanta right now. The storm is not expected to hit until around midnight but roads are clearing. When I get off at 7:00pm I'm expecting hardly any traffic. Less snow but more sleet and ice is forecast. People are buckling down.

There is a ferral cat that likes to sleep on my deck during inclement weather so I fixed up my cat's condo that he never uses and put it out there with a towel in the lower condo and an old marathon shirt in the upper so hopefully he/she will have some warmth tonight.

Though I like to make fun of winter drivers in Georgia as much as the next person it often is really slippery there because the temp is usually close to the freezing point when it happens and flipping back and forth from snow to freezing rain to sleet is pretty treacherous. Also there are lots of roads on the northside of Atlanta that a narrow, windy and hilly...not to mention driveways that are impassable.

Also, everywhere I have been from Vermont to Ontario to Colorado the one phenomenon that seems to be true is that over the summer even the best winter drivers often forget how to drive when the first snowstorm hits every year.

I am in the WAHH snowshoe club too. No snow here either!

I agree JC.. the roads can get messy fast. There was a snow shower up north of here this Saturday on Rt 93 and they ended up with a 40 car crash in the white out that occurred. Luckily injuries were minor and only to a few people... but YIKES!

This is exactly what my mom would do. One particular cat years ago adopted us after the box and towel were left on the back step. In fact we have a box and a towel under our deck now for the bunny that hops through our yard most evenings. He was actually sighted during the day today. I hope he doesn't have a mate, as I do not want baby bunnys in the spring.

We didn't get hit quite as hard as they thought but pretty good nonetheless. I'm taking a PTO day although I'm logged into work monitoring systems that have to process. But I'm at the max PTO amount anyway and need to dump some hours so if I can sit in my underwear and drink coffee I'm fine with using the PTO hours. Just make sure that web cam stays off.

Everybody was pissed off at Al Gore for inventing global warming. They had short memories, forgetting he had invented the internet.

Anyway Al decided enough was enough and altered global warming to climate change....and there is big snow in the South.

It's not nice to mess with Al Gore.

Well, I'm going to be working the midnight shift tonight. The office is sending someone with a 4-wheel drive to pick me up at 9:00pm and bring me home at 6:00am. They could not get anyone else willing to come in even with someone else doing the driving. This is why we hate snow and ice in the South.

I'm now working from 8:30pm to 6am. Guess I'll take a nap this afternoon.
