I saw this in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning and took the 15 question test. The only two I missed was what day does the Jewish Sabbath begin on and the last one about some preacher. But it doesn't prove anything one way or the other. I'm a history buff so tend to score higher on such "quizzes" whether they pertain to religion or other issues. But it doesn't mean I'm any smarter than anyone else when it comes to religion or my understanding it.

One thing it would suggest- for both sides -is not to make assumptions.....it seems many athiests arrived at that path after research/experimentation of many other belief systems and/or prior affiliation, as opposed to 'f*ck it all....it aint worth my time!" that seems to be associated with them.

While I'm no athiest, my anti-organized religion proclivities are well-known. I did up religious studies pretty heavily in college and was fortunate enough to have professors who helped to expand our diversity of knowledge and were not at all preachy....even the priests! It made arguments such as those with hardcore catholic ex-gf about me 'not opening up my mind to different beliefs' all the more frustrating. Especially since I could have thrown the argument back tenfold, with her being the small-towner who was raised catholic and admittedly never looked into anything else.

Yep. It wasn't until I actually decided to get serious about my faith and read about half of a book titled Meet the Bible that the cracks started. I finally read the story about the kook who took his son up to a mountain to slit his throat because some angel asked him to do it. And God loved him for it. That was all it took for me to get off the bus, though it took a while to let go completely.

By the same token there are Christians who experimented with different denominations - Catholic, Baptist, Jehovah's Witnesses, as well as tried to convince themselves they were agnostic or atheist who always came back to the conclusion that indeed there is a just and loving God. And their Christian belief strengthened as a result of the trials and tribulations they went through.

those are all Christian denominations ... and did 'they' ever pick a singular religion to align with or remain agnostic in their belief in something but not sure if any written doctrine was 'the one'?

True, they are all Christian denominations. I wasn't referring to any other religious denomination. My only point was that it is not unusual for Christians to seek the truth in various denominations as well as drift completely outside the Christian Church. And in at least some cases, much like the Prodigal son, came right back to where they started from after their sojourns.

Congrats. I was shocked I missed the one about the start of the Jewish Sabbath. Horrible Peanut needs to remind us of these things. As for the final question, I had no idea other than one person that it definitely wasn't. I think I might print out the test just for fun and have the adult Sunday School class take the test at my church.

While I don't necessarily agree with them, I do have a lot of respect for those who have questioned their faith, made it answer those questions, and decided that those were reasonable answers. I don't have a lot of respect for those I like to call 'religious parrots' - those who echo what they've been taught but have never thought about what it means. Heck, if you can't get into a good rip-roaring argument with your pastor about the meaning of that day's sermon you really don't know your own faith.

These things have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. John 20:31

This is the only reasonable conclusion after studying the Bible. But even researching historical & non-Christian writings document that the tomb of Christ was empty, and that Christ was witnessed by hundreds after His crucifiction. Something so life-altering, that inspired His disciples to preach the gospel of salvation through Christ, even while they faced beatings, stonings, beheadings, and being nailed upside down to a cross.
