I wrote a long summary yesterday and got booted off, so this will be brief.

Weather--clear, 50s, perfect

Course--city of Austin, lots of crowd support, hills at the end. (!)

Entertainment--fireworks, bands every mile or so

People running in costume--a guy in the Will Farrell Elf outfit, and a Texas Aggie football player

Who I ran with--my little brother!! Technically, he left me behind at the start, but we were together in spirit.

PR?--YES!! My old time was 2:17 and I ran this in 2:04:04!! Totally surprised me because I didn't train much...didn't even follow a training schedule...I did get in an 8, 10, and 12 mile long runs, but verrry slow ones. I just decided at the beginning to go for it, and was surprised that I could handle 9:00 minute miles. Living in the hill country and my two cross-training days per week must have really helped.
I had to run under someone else's name as this race sold out, and I bought our bibs on craigslist. Thank you EB from Houston, I had a lot of fun.

Now I'm ready to get under 2 hours, or even 1:50 and fantasize about Boston.

It's always fun to run better than anticipated isn't it?
