standing in my front yard, calling the number on the "For Sale" sign.

He doesn't know I can see him.

It's really, really strange. I think he was just walking down our street, because I don't see a car anywhere.

He's acting rather bizarre...

Yeah, all of our doors are locked. He's wandering around our back yard right now. He SHOULD know we're in here...our back wall is all picture windows and you can see into the house pretty easily. I'm weirded out that he walked into our back yard...

Perhaps calling someone to come by? I'd be totally freaked out by now if that happened at my house, but we have no close neighbors, so I'd already be calling the cops, most likely.

I'd use caution for sure and give someone a ring but still, with a for sale sign out front, wouldn't you expect people to give your house and yard the once over, front and back?

I know it's expected they will go the appointment route and that's far more civilized but a lot of people, once they see the sign, just assume they're looking at a commodity and forget it's still someone's home.

The sign makes a bit of a difference, but who knocks on the back door? Go around to the front if you want to knock.

The number on the For Sale sign is for our Realtor. Normally, they call that number and then our realtor calls us to set up an appointment so that we can leave and they can enter the house etc.

He's still walking around outside; now he's looking in all of our windows. Unfortunately, I usally leave them open for the sake of some sunshine. The Tot is asleep in his room with the windows closed, and I have TinyE here on my lap in the playroom.

This is getting creepy, but I'm pretty sure he's just looking at the house. At least, I hope.

I'm still not answering the door, though, and he's knocked a few times now...

...I called our next door neighbor...he's a judge. He went out and talked to the man.

Apparently, he'd like to come inside and see the place and buy it straight from us to avoid realtor fees.

Yeah. Right.

We GOT a realtor so that I didn't have to show the house by myself with two children to strange people that I didn't know...

Anyway, the judge set him straight and he's gone.

Thanks for being here, guys...I was a little panicked! That was a great suggestion, ecodork!!!

He probably thinks the house is empty.

I know DH and I have done that in the past.. looked around.. but ONLY if we saw a key box thing in the door.. and ONLY if it looked empty.

That's pretty shady that he knocked on your door. That's a big nono. You just don't do that!!!
