Yesterday was my second appointment with an ART practitioner. In addition to the soft tissue manipulation, he spent a lot of time putting me in different stretching positions in this big device designed with lots of hand and foot holds for stretching. And a lot of time having me do very odd walking exercises to get my muscles working in all different planes (which he wants me to do at home).<br><br>
For those of you who have done ART, did your practitioners do anything besides the soft tissue manipulation? Does the other stuff sound more like add-ons from other disciplines? I'm not sure I agree with all of it.

Yes, my guy gave me some pilates stuff to do along with some other exercises and stretching to do. I wasnt always very diligent about doing all of them, but he did show me lots of other things to do to strengthen and keep things from tightening up.

Mine mostly does the soft tissue manipuation. He has suggested some strengthening exercises but not to the extent that it sounds that yours has.

Mine has me walking back and forth doing duck walks (feet pointed way outwards), feet pointed inwards, sideways shuffles (nostalgia from my JV basketball days) with my hands waiving in every which direction. And he wants me to do this several times a day. I'm thinking it's karma biting me on the ass for some of the wierd combos I made up in my step classes. <img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/smile.gif"><br><br>
But seriously, just wondering how it went for others. The amount of stretching and 'walk matrix' (how he describes the spasdic movements I describe above) stuff he's recommending will take up all of my waking hours.

mine didnt have me doing stuff like that. Just some core strengthening exercises and some stretching stuff. That does sound odd.<br><br>
