Some great games yesterday if you like football except that my chiefs stunk it up big time. I suspect Mike's not too happy about football this morning either.

I have 12 miles on the schedule tonight with some light fartleks thrown in for fun.

Looking forward to a race report from Rip. And hippie pics?

I'm thankful today that it was quiet on the terrorist front yesterday. But we can't let our guard down just yet.

I hope pickles finds a whole country of Tom Whites. She won't feel so bad about the one she' got.

Hi KS and everybody to follow

Early morning workout on the eliptical. Jumped on and went at my usual medium pace and I my heartrate kept climbing

much quicker than usual. Resting heartrate this morning was about 8-10 beats higher than usual also so I know I got a good workout this weekend. Cut the workout short at 45 minutes when I got to race pace effort. I'll do another 45 minutes this evening. Otherwise, my legs feel great after running on the soft trails.

With some luck and a bit of thyroid hormone, I'm hoping this will be the "before" feeling. Will get the lab work back this week and hopefully start treatment next week..... lowest possible dose to start. I should plot my resting HR against my TSH levels.... might find I have a reasonable surrogate marker I can use to gauge my progress.

Hi all,

I did 5.5 M this morning with a couple of it on gnarly trails. I wanted to see if the slow trail running on this route (I often see 11 m/M or so on my Garmin) meant that my HR was also slow. The answer is no. My average pace for the 5.5 M was 9:55 m/M but my AHR was 134 bpm, which would be good enough for faster-than 9-minute pace on a flat road. Rest tommorrow to gauge my knee's reaction to today.

Now to go home and watch some football. BTW, ks, I really really enjoyed the Saturday matchup between Iowa arch-rivals.

Hi guys. Wish I had some gnarly trails to run on. I cut my jog short yesterday - I blame it on the bad air from the grass fires in the area, plus the hot weather of course. It couldn't have anything to do with that trip to the BBQ shop :) Think I should try again today or just play it safe and watch the game instead?

Hey.

Most excellent photo there, Heme! They are such a fun couple.

And on a related note... I signed up for Boston 2012 today. Just shoot me now. I don't know why I do things like that.

Rest day of sorts today. Meaning I didn't bring a gym bag or running stuff to work, so I sat on my duff all day. sure is nice out though... Forecast for Saturday is ok, will be a very chilly start!

8 miles of frolicking fartlek in the early evening.

After dinner I went out to take the trash can to the curb. The grass was wet and uncomfortably cold on my bare feet. Autumn is coming soon!

PT - don't talk to me about cold wet grass. 11.75 miles tonight which was to be a light fartlek. 9.5 miles of this run was directly into a blast furnace. Still 100 degree index when I started.

Bob - your fire smoke really hammered us in CC for a few days.

Heme - nice pic of you, Marj and Henrun

Came home to find my garage door opener had thrown and balled up the chain. jtwili :)

Congrats on Boston EF. Only a few from CC going this year. More qualified but have decided for whatever reasons to pass for 2012. I'll run Knoxville instead of Boston next year.

hello KS.

Wasn't much excited about the game Pie, but there was a Rocky rerun that sorely tempted me toward the couch. Took your advice Hemerocallus. Eight and a half, and glad there was a moon out.

Hi everyone, 6 slow miles for me tonight, nice evening out.

Love the photo Heme - you have a winning smile and it makes me smile to see it!

KS, have you ever considered moving to a cooler clime?

TW, where is Scotland did Pickles go? Has she been there before? I've been twice. It's soo lovely and actually has a lot of similarities to the Pacific Northwest (to a gardener) in terms of plants, weeds, and pastoral beauty - although of course Scotland does it better. The castle ruins, the historical museums, the botanical gardens, the standing stones and stone circles, and islands stuck in a time practically before electricity, and of course the herds of sheep blocking the one lane roads on these islands. It's another world for sure.

I'm glad there was no "anniversary terrorism," too, KS. What happened 10 years ago is disturbing enough for a lifetime. I was awake for hours last night thinking about it - everything about it-very sad and horrifying, such a huge shock and loss.

Made for a very tired day, but who am I to complain, right?
