With so many independently owned buisnesses closing I was wondering....

How many, if any, independently owned hardware stores, bakeries, appliance stores, groceries etc. are still around in your community?

Near me, the last mom and pop hardware store closed.

But a mom and pop bakery is on my mail route.

We have quite a few Part of the attraction of this town. However, I think they're dying out like they are in a lot of areas.

The Mom and Pop restaurants are still doing great, at least.

Dan, this is proof that you do not live on the West Side.

There is one awesome hardware store. It's called County Store. They have everything and people who actually know how to fix things or tell you what part you probably need to fix it. They ask all the right questions to help you figure out what parts you might need.

They also sell minnows!

I did however save $.02/lb on the bag of nails I bought at Home Depot.

Hi Dan!

We have a mom & pop hardware store here in town, owned and run by my next-door neighbors for many years. It's very old-fashioned, with a little bit of everything. They also have an Alltel dealership in the store, as a nod to the 21st century.

We have a few in my neighborhood. The guy who owns the convenience store near me offered me a job. He must be impressed with my consumption of candy and sunflower seeds.

Hey Dan, with all the nice Mom and Pop stores, and friendly people, and Buster Keaton's hometown nearby, you really should visit Kansas someday.

Cool!

But if you'll be flying in, wait a few days. It's kinda cold for that sort of thing this week. Plus, Bugdude and I both have a nasty throat infection, and we don't want to spread it to you.
