Good morning, Team!

14.4miles in a gray-sky morning, but no wind to speak of and high 20's, it wasn't too bad. Early start due to attending a church service soon (specially for the victims of the disasters in Japan), it was challenging thanks to a late-night movie. Planned 15miles and I thought I would have to cut short due to feeling so heavy legs. But somehow, the legs started coming along, and the last three miles were progressively faster to finish the last mile just over 8min/mi. Today's lesson is, hang in there and things will turn around.

Have a good Sunday.

Thor - sorry to hear that Boston may be a no-go for you this year. Hope that I still may see you pre-race sometime and get to share a beer. Heal quickly buddy.

2 hours on the treadmill. First 1.5 hours @ 7:26 min/mi pace, HR @ 136 which is high z1. Last 30 min @ 5:52 min/mi pace, HR @ 162 which is low z4. Felt smooth . After Friday's run and the half last week, this just confuses me. Oh well, I'll take it. 17.2 mi total.

Enjoy the remainder of the weekend, tri-peeps!

Thanks, Mike. And hey, if I can't run I will definitely not be at the after party (shouldn't take day off work, as I've only been working four weeks and have already taken 6.5 of those off as vacation). And if that's the case, which is likely at this point, I'll make sure to jump on the pre-race plans as they fit so that we can connect.

Thor...sorry to hear as well. :(

A solid 13-miler this morning. Total time was 2:04:19 with a little over 1200 ft total climbing. I honestly didn't check pace much - just went by feel and just told myself to take it easy, this is a recovery week, save the legs for next week, etc.

So, just because I was curious, I went back to my most recent half marathon, which was last May and 2 weeks after a full...that was 2:03:59 with about 1100 ft total climbing and definitely a hard effort. I was happy to see that a "take it easy" training run wasn't too far off 1/2 marathon pace.

I've been trying to beat Oprah's marathon time since I started running (4:29). If I can keep up solid training, I think it's very doable this time. You're going down, Winfrey.

Bummer, Thor.

Glad your run went well today, Mike!

So, it's in the 50°Fs, sunny and awesome out today. However, I think I'm flirting with anterior tibial tendonitis and it was *SO* hard to play it safe and cut my run short to only 10 miles as suggested by my coach. Was soooo tempted to go for at least 2 more (14 was on the schedule). So, 10 miles in HR zn 2 and I don't even physically feel like I've worked out. Sigh. Not really the way I wanted to head into taper.

Will head out in a bit to pick up beer and soda cans along one of my favorite running routes for the returns deposit which I will then donate to Baypath Humane Society in honor of our (me and AdCo) running Boston.

Took the morning off, and instead "just" did swimming today.

I tested the Garmin and shoved it into my cap.

A fashion statement...it is NOT.

But, don'cha know....those Garmin hamsters can see through latex to the satellites!

3.4 miles of straight swimming in 1:22.

I'm in a great place for the June swim.

Now, to figure out a way to get access to a kayak so that I can get some OWS in before then as well.

It's relatively easy to swim that much in a pool...you get a push from a solid object every 50 meters.

OWS will be different, for sure.

‎17 mile FAIL! Made it 13.5, then right quad seized up with some wicked cramps. Tried to shake it off, didn't work. Hobble of shame. Still hobbling and trying to stretch out the damn thing. Ugh!

My longest run since my knee problems started- did 4 miles and what do you know... no swelling, no pain, nothing. Looks like I am ramping up my mileage right this time.

After stretching and a sandwich, I took DS and his girlfried mountain biking. Girlfriend had to be reacquainted with a bike. So I helped her while DS went off to find mud. Definitely not a problem around here these days. He came back smiling and completely muddy. It was fun!
