Uh oh...two threads! I don't know where to post!!! LOL! Thor - thanks for the good thoughts!!!

A trifecta of weird things leading up to today's [what ended up being] 21 miler.

1 - Last night, one of the tread pieces on the new shoes literally popped off. Thank you, Gorilla Glue, for holding up.

2 - Complete and total Garmin failure this morning. Wouldn't turn out, wouldn't reset. Finally did reset but no battery charge at all. Boooo! So, did the same route as the last 20 miler plus added on for another mile. No idea about time or pace.

3 - Almost didn't get out the door due to DH getting a call from work and he thought he was going to have to go in. Which meant either a) put the little otters for 20 miles, or b) go at the crack of early tomorrow. Ended up being ok,

All that being said, the actually run was good! Glad it's done, felt ok, fueled and hydrated well. I'm so ready to taper.

Cool/low 40s - cloudy and very windy, occasional snow showers. Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race 25K. Course was long. Course was on the hilly trails in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Mostly singletrack, dirt trails, some rocks and roots, several steep climbs. Maintained a steady effort. Took second place Grand Masters and 18th overall. Had to wait about 3 hours for the awards. Full report to follow.

@Otter - that has happened to me multiple times with my Garmin. They can be a bit cranky sometimes. There is a special button sequence you can hit to do a hard reset and sometimes when I couldn't get my Forerunner to come back, that did the trick.

@Don - nice job, 18th OA is impressive!

Scheduled called for a 1 hr swim and a 2 hr easy spin and I completely flubbed that up.

First I did the full 1.5 hr masters swim this morning. My 4th consecutive day of swimming. Arms were like jello starting from doing functional strength for the first time in six weeks on Friday morning. Strangely enough, they weren't any better at the end of the workout.

Then joined about seven others for a bike ride. After about 2 hours we were down to 4 of us. Headed west into a stiff wind and took turns pulling, I worked much harder than I was supposed to. The ride back was a blast! Happiness is doing 36 mph with an effort of 140 watts on the flats. Last hour, legs were pretty wiped. Not sure why, could have something to do with running a marathon five days ago. I'll have time to rest when I'm up north.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Nice job, Jen and Don!

Mike, if you're too tired, you won't be able to run away when your coach comes to kick your butt.

me: 5K meters in the pool, as 1 x 5000. two quick water breaks, but otherwise non-stop. 2:04:26, which is speedier than I thought. Still had gas in the tank at the end, then I spent the rest of the day digging up and transplanting things. Now I'm a wee bit fatigued.

Started the morning early with a 4800yd trip through the fish bowl. Pacing was "eh" core and arms were decimated from the new Kom Do teacher last night. Egads. 1:30 total time.

then scramble to gather up the boys and get to an Eagle Scout court of honor (basically honoring a newly minted Eagle Scout). Good times, both boys were impressed.

Right before the ceremony got a call from work - everything's down. Everything? Yeah, everything. Massive power event destroyed maybe $5k in gear including our primary data center firewall. Well, put in the spare. Yeah, what spare. REALLY?! While they scramble to put in temporary measures (heads will roll Monday) Had to go drop $2k on a replacement, get it (with 21 minutes to spare before they closed for weekend), deliver it to the office while they work to get all customers online. One of the email servers won't come back easily.

FINALLY off on my bike, 4 hrs @ 66 miles I think? or 71? or 61? dunno - also had a complete Garmin fail. PT didn't help since I forgot to clear it from the prior trainer workout. Crap. Anyway, I'm thinking 66 miles. On trails, which on the one end are open... but on the other have grown some serious bumps. Lost 1 water bottle in hour 1. Second at hour 2. Found the second on hour 3, and found the first on hour 4. So all is well... except one of them is busted. Anyway, that screwed with my hyrdation. I also tested some new food sources. Yeah, didn't work out so great. Oh well, it was an experiment. All in all an "ok" ride - but like Mike was saying, wicked azz winds around here. So I was 2.5hrs out and 1.5hrs back. Barely made it in before dark.

Back home to deal with work until 10:30 when i collapsed. Must.hide.eggs.before.kids.get.up. I set the alarm. I had no faith I'd get up in time otherwise.
