Thinking that my big toe pain is arthritis. See the doctor on Thursday to rule out bone spurs, my massage therapist says she feels something "yucky". Celebrex helped alot yesterday, I ran, and my toe didn't throb last night.
Anyone using any good natural remedies....or anything that really works, for arthritis? My SO, an ex-basketball player, has it in his knees pretty bad and I know he isn't taking any of the Vioxx/Celebrex crap.....but is there anything you've found that actually works besides that?
What type of arthritis are we talking about? Since being diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis I have learned that there are over 100 different types of arthritis with various treatments.

I tried natural remedies, accupuncture, diet and nothing worked excepted medication. After almost a year, I am finally getting back to running.

A friend with osteoarthritis in the knees used glucosamine and chondroitin for several years with great success. However, he had ultimately needed a knee transplant.
For me, it's osteo. Lifting heavy weights that press through the spine helps more than anything, but I'm thinking about going back to glucosamine and chondroitin. I wasn't sure it was helping, but I'm definitely worse since going off it. Of course, I was training 65 miles a week at peak for New York at around the same time, so that might have had an impact as well.
I need to chat you up on this topic once I finish scaring myself with google searches.

got diagnosed with arthritis of the spine today.

I got spurs on my spine and compressed disks to boot.
Did that for a while and it didn't seem to help, so I stopped. My arthritis is definitely worse since quitting, so I'm thinking it's time to try it again.
I have bursitis in my left hip. I was taking Vioxx for a couple months, and it seemed to do the trick. I also took them if I was doing long runs of ten miles or more.

Finally, I went to the orthopaedic doctor, and he gave me a cortisone shot, and it did the trick
