Good luck with the exam. It is always good to get things checked out. The heart is nothing you want to mess with or ignore. I take care of a lot of patients that have had stress tests. I work in the cardiac cath lab. We have a lot of people that have had false positives on the exam. If you have an arrhythmia though then it may show up on your stress test and they can treat you with the appropriate medications. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I have worked with cardiac patients for years.

Yes, it is painless. If you are getting the nuclear one they give you a shot of thalium I think it is then you wait and they take pictures. Then you walk and run on a treadmill, they shoot more stuff in you and you wait some more til they take more pictures.

Good for you getting checked out. Early detection is so important.

AFAIK the only reason you wouldn't get the nuclear part is if your insurance won't cover it. The treadmill test alone is not as thorough. The nuclear part takes pictures.

And it's only scary if you are claustrophobic. I am not and do not find it in the least bit nerve wracking or scary.

I've had both and neither are a big deal, especially to someone who doesn't go into total vapor lock at the thought of breaking out into a jog on a treadmill.

I have a few hairs on my chest, and removing the diodes was the most uncomfortable part of the whole ordeal for me.

I had one when I was trying to figure out if I was physically capable of running a marathon fast enough to qualify for Boston.

It was not a lot of fun at the end because I was in really good condition....as the incline and speed went up I started to tell my heart to speed up so it would shut off. It didn't listen to me for waaay too long.
