This is the second time in three weeks that I have been sick. Of the past 20 days, I have been sick approximately 9-10 days. Sick one week...feel good for a week...sick this week. It is amazing how much snot the human body can produce!

Needless to say, my training for Panama City has gotten off to a shaky start. I need to, mentally, get back into the game.

Amen to that!!

I work at a school and it seems like the beginning of every semester I get a bad cold that lingers for 2-3 weeks sometimes even longer. This one is almost completely gone and it's only been a little over a week Yay! But the snot is still lingering...

I had a really quick, like 4-day cold that moved from my head to my chest and boom, it was gone. But, that was a month ago and I'm still left with this junk in my nose and lungs. Always clearing my throat and blowing my nose. So annoying. Hope you feel better Doug!

I feel your pain Doug, I'm in the back of the boat, sailing the snotty sea~

My little family has been passing this cold around for a month now, and it's tough to try to rally the body for training, the attitude is there. I missed out on PF Changs marathon (DNS), and am now trying to keep together IM training for April.

Keep the body happy: meds, fluids, rest, whatever it needs for recovery.

No, I am finally healthy, and please stop talking about being sick!

I pretty much know everytime I travel (maybe every 6-8 weeks) I am going to come down with a little something. I like the little head colds that I can run through and burn out of my head.

Winter is a tough time.

I had a little something a couple weeks ago. It lasted only a day or two and didn't slow me down any.
Lots of people are sick though.
Funny thing, all the sick people aren't runners/tri peeps. All the runners/tri peeps are feeling fine. Makes ya wonder.

Hadn't been sick until DH brought something home. No snot for me. Just fatigue, muscle aches, headache and earache. I've been out of bed all afternoon so I guess I'm getting better.
I'm going to try and do my 90 minute ride tomorrow but I think I'll stay in and use the trainer. It would be just my luck to poop out about 10 miles from home.

Yep... I've been kinda cranky the past couple days. Thought it was just the kids driving me crazy. This afternoon went and registered for the 15miler on Sunday. Then, this afternoon, the sneezing starts... This is always phase one of a cold... Why didn't I just wait until race day to register???

Knock on wood! I haven't had to take any sicktime this year!

I got sooooooooo sick after the Chicago marathon in 05...right after. I was surprised when I felt so GOOD after the IM.

Dougie Doug...us educators get exposed to lots of germs. Lysol is my best friend atm.

Think about it ...instruments...mallets...singing...running around...kindergarteners with snot running down their face.

You get the big kids that know how to blow their nose. And don't suck on their hands all day.

I think if you have kids this is pretty hard to avoid. But Germ-x is your friend. Or whatever it is called where you are - I'm talking about the water free hand sanitiser. Never leave home without it.

We got on the plane to fly to IMC and it seemed like EVERYONE was coughing and hacking (it was winter here). the noise was unbelievable. I said to my friend that I reckoned that it was going to be some kind of medical miracle if we got through out flight without catching something. We somewhat manically used the Germx after each foray from our seats and before meals, amid much amusement and eyerolling from my DH. Only one of us got abit sick before the race. No points for guessing who..

Being manic about hand hygiene won't necessarily eliminate it, but can really help reduce the amount of sickness you have. Alot of germs are transferred to our mucous membranes from our hands.

It seems like I've been sick since November when I got a flu shot. I've been bed ridden with high fever, had two doses of azithromisyn (sp) for sinus infection, and been a bit tired and lagging all winter. I start training and then I'd get sick again. I'm going to take it very easy for the next week and try starting up some gentle training after that. If that doesn't work, it is off to an eye-nose-throat specialist. My regular DR is out of ideas.

Sorry to hear you are sick - I had a week plus of dealing with an ear/lymph infection, and it was suck. The hardest thing is to rest, but if if you just succumb and get tons of sleep, your body will thank you. Heal up!
