After talking about it for years, I making all my funeral arrangements this weekend and next. I'm looking at Cremation Society of the South and a veteran's plot in Floral Hills in Tucker. The Charles Harris 10k passes by there each February for people trying to get a Peachtree Road Race seeded number, so I won't be completely bored.

My mother has been in Floral Hills since 1985 and I haven't heard her complain so the place must be allright.

And, no, the arrangements are not for immediate need.

Oh, that will never happen.

Really, my DH knows what I'd want done and I have life insurance set up... but I can't imagine ever going shopping. Partially because I don't care about the details, because I won't be there. I guess there's something to be said for taking the preparation off the hands of your grieving survivors, but I can't imagine making those choices when I'm really thinking, just let my friends/family come say goodbye, then drop me in the ground.

I hope you make it to my party before you're cremated.

I'd notice if you were gone!

I remember the night before I turned 30 better than any of my other birthdays and I'm not sure why. I remember thinking, gosh I'm going into my 30's. And I swear that seems just like yesterday. I've had no regrets, enjoyed the 40's and the 50's and look forward to the 60's and 70's, but gosh the merry-go-round is going faster and faster.

So, looking forward to seeing you at your 30th Birthday Saturday. Sunday you'll be 50.

We sorta kinda know what we want, but the plans are not made/finished/taken care of. They should be. It's one of those things that you think you have plenty of time to deal with so it gets shoved to the bottom of the to-do list.

We did think it would be fun to make our own urns at the Color Me Mine place though.

I'd like to be cremated and tossed in the Atlantic off of the pier at Folly Beach, SC. It is my favorite place in the world.

But I'll likely get torched and then have my ashes planted next to wherever DH and I decide to plant him. He's not much on the whole cremation thing, and I'm not much on the embalming thing.

Those are the cliffs I want my ashes to be thrown from:

I have quite specific intentions, memorialized in my will, regarding my cremation and the disposal of my remains in particular places.

I am certain that my beloved wife, should she outlive me, will completely ignore those wishes and have me buried in her family's plot in Western Mass.

Since I will be in no position to argue when the relevant time arrives, I am at peace with this.

But I really do hope she uses my well-crafted playlist for my memorial service. I would hate to go out with bad music.

The Refuse to Energy plant here take the ash after the trash is burned and mixes it with cement. I have several economical ideas for that. If they can keep my ashes pretty segregated, I could become a handy garden bench, or stepping stone.
