We had a thread a while back, before the CR collapse, in the PRT, with people coming to the Surf City Marathon on Feb 3rd, in Huntington Beach, Ca.

With so many new runners around here now, I was wondering if anyone else is coming that weekend, if so, let me know, so we can plan to meet up

There were never that many coming, but we'd all like to take the opportunity to say hello, and it's Superbowl weekend too - I'm coming all the way from Ireland, and will be around from Friday night

Any takers?

I signed up for the race. It will be my 2nd time running it, I ran it last year. I'd suspect we'd see more Boomers there, Ileneforward? SloJim? Cashmason? It's a good race, lots of runners, beer garden at the finish, temp's are usually very mild.

Hey Liam, I havent signed up for a race yet. Might do 5k or half, might not. But would love to meet you and this is my hometown.

You can back channel me at Cashmason at aol dot com. We can arrange to meet up.

Warning, your average 4 year old Irish girl can drink me under the table. I usually on drink diet soda, but glad to go to any type pub and have fun. You already know American beer suxxors by Irish standards.

Liam,

I will more than likely either be running the 5K or the HM. I'm running the Carlsbad HM next weekend.... the first HM in over a year due to injuries so I'm not sure if I'll be up for another HM that soon...... but I'm always up for a party

Just bumping this back up as it's only a week to go -

A fair number of PRT'ers coming along too - So I'll be staying at the Huntington Surf Inn right near the start finish, and hope that we can all meet up on Saturday, and then again after the race - especially those who are hanging around to watch the Superbowl.

Just checking in ..... I did finally sign up, although after last week's HM at Carlsbad, I've decided to be sensible and just run the 5K.

I believe Barefoot Rick is speaking at the Expo at 3:00 Saturday afternoon ....... does anyone want to meet at the Expo at that time and then get something to eat afterwards?

Seems like 3 at the expo and Barefoot Runners chat will be a perfect time to meet - I'll wear my "Kickin It In Philly" T-Shirt, so you can spot me -

I noticed on the Surf City web site that there's few restaurants listed with special marathon menus near the pier area that I think would be within walking distance of the Expo.

Cash.... any suggestions???

Good job, Nettie. It is tent #12.
When I was there in Oct we walked over to California Pizza Kitchen. There were several other places to eat, as well. We just agreed on that one. Cash or Ilene could tell more names.

There is a BJ's Pizza nearby. Don't know the CPK nearby. Ruby's is a 50's type diner on the Pier. There is a mexican place I think Chimayo's on the second floor looking over the ocean.

But I don't know that any of those places could sit a dozen or more people.
