Hi All,

I joined not too long ago, and have been enjoying reading everyone's experiences, so thought I should at least post to say hi :)

I'm an Aussie living in Melbourne, with DH and two cats. No kids yet, though, to the disappointment of the MILs! People call me droidy in real life as well :)

I haven't been running for too long - I started at the beginning of the year, had to stop because I was ill, and have re-started in the last month or so as my energy levels have returned to something approaching normal for me. Prior to this year, all I really did sports-wise was play tennis; the last time I ran would've been during school PE classes!

I've chosen to work my way through the Couch to 5k program, as my aim is to be able to run 30 minutes straight without a stop. I've been finding that I quite enjoy the half an hour or so I have outside by myself, and not a worry except to put one foot infront of the other. I'm at W4D2 for my next run (tomorrow!), and I'm rather looking forward to it!

Anyways, that's enough rambling from me for awhile :)

Welcome!

Good luck with the C25K progress, it sounds like you're doing well so far.

Come over to the PRT when you have the time, too.

Thanks all, again! I'm about to start W5 next run - furthest I'll have got through C25k! W5D3 is looking a little daunting, with 20 minutes straight, but I'm learning (like everyone's saying!) that if I don't go so fast, I'll do much better at getting through the whole thing :)

*grin* it's a nickname, short for Android, a handle I used on IRC at some point. I think DH had a hand in shortening it. My IRL name is ... generally associated with :

I was leaning towards the android link, but your reference to using it in regular life too threw me off a bit. Sort-of a Ms. Data.

Welcome - not that I'm anybody but a new guy too...

*grin* yeah well, I guess part of my online life kind of overlapped with IRL, which means people I now know IRL having met first online, call me droidy to my face - good thing I answer, hey?

(it's really hard to type when there's a cat on your lap leaning on one wrist, when it's a laptop keyboard you're trying to type on ...)

Welcome droidy,

My sister-in-law lives in Trenthum sp? which I believe isnt too far away from you. Well if you are the only Aussie I may need to help translate, ie. if you "crinkled your bonnet" I know you've had a bad day. Translation dented the hood of a car.

I haven't been to Trentham - is this the place you're thinking of (kind of ... north-west of Melbourne CBD)? It looks like a lovely place to live :) I live where I still consider it to be city (well, suburbia), rather than country, although with the amount of fruit orchards around us, you'd think otherwise!

Hi Droidy, from another Aussie, I'm in Brisbane and I finished C25k about two weeks ago. Stick with it, it's a great program. Have you found Robert Ullrey's podcasts? They were my lifesaver, didn't really have the same taste as him in music, but it was great having someone telling me when to start running and when to stop.

Cheers

Hi Audrey! Hooray, I've got safety in numbers with aussies! (or ... something!) I don't think I would've got so far if I hadn't found Robert Ullrey's podcasts - they might not be my usual taste in music, but it definitely helps with someone telling me when to run/walk - saves me frantically looking at watches or trying to focus to read the watch, while the seconds go by really really slowly !
