Opie, Bummer! And you were running so well. Sounds like you'll be x-training for a while. Don't be too scarce here. Keep us updated.

Nice MLR, KS! You're running well as usual.

4 miler today EZ. Still working out the kinks from Hyannis. It was nice today, running in shorts, 48F, with some minor drizzle occasionally.

Ran 11.4 miles in the pouring rain yesterday, nice and steady 10 min/mile pace. Today I ran 4.5 miles averaging 9:20 (last mile was uphill into the wind the whole way, quite refreshing!). And this afternoon I have a needle biopsy so please send some good thoughts, folks. I'm pretty sure everything is fine, but they wouldn't be sending me for this test if there wasn't anything to be concerned about. So there ya go.

Opie, those stress fractures are usually easy. 6-8 weeks off, cross train like mad and you will be back in no time. The muscle and nerve injuries are the bad ones.

Nice progression run this morning. First 1/3rd easy, next 1/3rd medium, last 1/3rd tempo.

8.5 miles 63:00 (7:24 pace) 2% incline 900 ft elevation gain. I have been giving myself 25 seconds/mile for the incline so right at 7:00 pace for the whole run this morning with the last 3 getting close to between 6:20 and 6:25 pace.

OM, early detection saves lives. And if it's nothing they can monitor it for changes in the future.

{{{{Opie}}} don't be a stranger. Tell us about your crosstraining stuff.

Hi everybody. We are all in the wrong business. Got a bill from the anesthesiologist for $2700. I was under for less then 30 minutes.

OM, I'll be keeping a good thought for you. And don't assume that if they're doing the test that there's something to worry about. After my last routine mammogram, I got a call from my GP's office to "book an appointment to review the results of your follow-up mammogram". I hadn't gotten the results of the first one yet (it was in snail-mail), let alone knew that I needed a follow-up. Made me think that...gee, if my GP's already insisting on seeing me for the follow-up, she must be pretty sure this is something serious. Totally freaked me out! And it turned out to be nothing at all.................

That just sucks, Opie....but please don't disappear! Tell us about your X-training! This will be behind you before you know it.

OK, I just found out I got a raise today, but $5,400/hour.... that's insane.

Will run later after work...

Thanks for all the encouragement and good thoughts. Procedure was a double, two spots needed to be prodded, sampled and marked. A three-inch needle through a two-inch mound of flesh... almost reminds me of that Hedwig song... hey, if Opie can be uncharacteristically profane (and more power to ya, my friend), I can be uncharacteristically inappropriate with my TMI. It's just that sort of day.

Oh, and to top it all off, I can't run until at least Thursday. Just when my running was finally coming back! Yeah, karma's having quite the guffaws these days....

Just think how good the run on Thursday will feel, OM!

Johnny: The instructor is Christine Felstead. Title: Yoga for Runners. The one I have is for beginners, but she apparently has an intermediate one as well. The beginner one is pretty basic, but it's the first yoga I've ever done formally (never taken a class), so I have no basis for comparison.

6 and change miles (no Garmin) after work. Nuttin' special. Just happy to be out there.

OM & Opie - you both will be back on the road in no time! Time goes by so much faster now we're older

Opie, what kind of radiological study did you have to diagnose the fracture? Since you're calling it only "probable," I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that it's something less serious.

I'm embarrassed at my lack of speed because you all are so fast! I know better than to compare myself to others, but I don't think I'll post my pace info any more.

Opie.....Sorry to hear the news....don't go away and whatever the f&^%k (edited for KS ) you do, don't FB. ........Keep the faith bro (BTW, you didn't get that potty mouth from me, did ya???)

Thanks Heme, I'll see if I can find a copy.

No running today.....and day off work tomorrow ....thinking about a run along the lower rogue trail.

Something about one mans ceiling being another mans floor come to mind Happy Feet......keep plugging away, no one judges you by speed. Your off the couch which makes you faster than 99% of the population.

Happy Feat, I actually have the films right here but they're still sealed up in the big envelope. I don't know what the radiologist did, I just know that the ortho foot/anke guy wants to see them. I also know my foot had an occasional pulsing or throbbing today so I took some ibu with dinner, organic granola with extra yogurt for extra bone healing.

OM, you haven't met me in person or you would know I talk too loud and can curse like a sailor!

I had planned to go swimming but DS had a band concert and that's the important thing.

Opie, hope it's nothing serious with the foot.

Orange Mat, don't believe him. I've never heard him curse on any of the many long runs we've done together. He doesn't talk all that loudly either. He does talk a lot on our long runs, but that's mainly because if I talk, I start running faster, so he talks a lot to keep the pace nice and easy.

Rest day for me today.
