Today I was folding the HUGE pile of laundry in the front parlor, and had the TV on. ( This part of the house dates from the 1750's) I left the room to put away some dish towels in the kitchen and to put my daughters shirts in her room. . As I passed the TV - Oprah was chatting with some woman actress about a new better diet.. and I heard a man's deep voice say "You too?" -Seriously It didn't even phase me.. I walked into my daughter's room and said "Our man is talking again.. not sure what about but he said You too." .

My husband has been smelling whiffs of pipe tobacco in this same room off and on over the last two weeks. .... Hmm. I think our resident " spirit" is reving up again. Not sure why.

DO you think he likes Oprah or wants me to put YouTube on the computer ?

MrsCoby- The parlor, front hall and about 8 feet of the kitchen date from the 1750's. We know that it was built by the family who lived in the house next to us ( dated 1740's and MUCH smaller but same style antique cape.) The father built it and moved in and the son had the other house. However the encounters occur a most often around music. DH is a historical musician.. and plays 19th century popilar music. I have heard the humming when we were playing a tune, the door which must be lifted and latched was opened 3 times when my husband played a Civil war ballad Lorena.. many more . The only time I got mad at him and yelled - ( yes I told him to knock it off!) was one night when I went in the parlor to shut the light off. My husband had done a music performance at a veterans home in a civil war uniform. He had left the uniform strewn in the "favorite humming chair" and there was big tamborine on the rocking chair. I leaned over to turn off the light and aBANG WHAM! the tamborine hit the floor. I thought I had bumped the chair and it had fallen off.. so I immediately turned on the light ( my hand was on ly inches off the switch ) and the chair was not moving at all!!! I told him if he had issues with the uniform to scare my husband not me !

Many people have encouraged us to call TAPS as they are not too far away- but We don't think our guy would do much plus they would have the caveat of the electrical box right below us in the granite rock lined cellar... not sure I want cameras showing my messy house either !

This is really cool! I try to take the Ghost Whisperer attitude towards ghosts, too (the one with Jennifer Love Hewitt.. yes, it's a guilty pleasure! ) that they're not really trying to hurt us, but are just stuck! I think it's a fascinating concept. Do you have any idea of the guy's name? Is it maybe the son?

Ye, we have a spring which makes the smalll pond in our back yard. NIchols Brook is across the street and runs by the original homestead. ( Currently both are pretty much dry.) Why do you ask ?

Macbeth we do not know his name. I had a friend who claimed she had intuitive/psychic connection and felt it was a father who was upset over his son in the Civil War.. but I am not buying that . He really initeracts in fun ways - with music mostly or with the kids when they were little.

Been done.. well DD's trumpet is out regularly. No action on that! He seems to like the piano and the 19th century repro and original stringed instruments ( except for that dang tambo incident.. which will NOT happen again I am sure )

My aunt lives in Seabrook and her house is very haunted as well. It's one of the oldest (c 1690s) homes in Seabrook and there's a lot of history in the house. She, too, has some of the old latch lock doors, and they've opened and closed in the house. They used to have the TV turn on and off often, curtains will move, etc. I've had very strange encounters in her house. You should talk to her, she has a friend who might be able to talk to your ghost.

Is DrGenie still here? When she visited me at my apartment up in Danvers at the site of the old Danvers State Mental Hospital, she said she could feel the ghosts presence. I believe she was pretty freaked out the second night she stayed there.
