Happy Saturday all! I am just about to go to bed and it is officially Saturday so I thought I would start a thread for once.

So I got in 11 Friday night. Guess what? Minnesota is freaking freezing right now. I did the first 8.8 with the dog (kudos to the pup, longest run so far this season and the day after a 8 miler to boot) and then finished up just around the 'hood. I wore my ninja mask and it worked great! My eyelashes however repeatedly froze together and I had to use my gloves to detach them. Also, my mask melded with my fleece to form one big 'thing'. I am still cold. I changed quickly and ran to the grocery store as we were out of everything basically. As I drove by the bank, I saw the temp was 3F. Ew!!!! And there was at least a 10 mile wind on the lake. Very cold.

7 today and 17 tomorrow. I may take the 7 inside. We'll see.

Good luck to all the racers this weekend!!!!!!!

Wow, Brandy - you're hardcore. That's cold I don't want to think about!

I am up - it's not technically Saturday where I am, but I'll post here anyway.

I missed my flight home this afternoon - but I did get my airport workout in, I ran through the terminal to try and catch my plane. Apparently, high altitude is not my friend...I had an asthma attack. I think people thought I had the plague, I was coughing so hard. It was not the best run I've ever had.

Not to mention, my shin was throbbing afterwards. Maybe just curl-ups with the carryon next time...;

I did, however, once I got myself settled into downtown Denver for the night, spent 45 minutes on the elliptical with arms in the hotel. **Before going out for steak and wine.** Balance, it's all balance. My heart rate was fairly high, considering I was going at a snail's pace, but - I was still not breathing at my best, so I was being slow and cautious anyway.

So. Now I won't get home until 5 tomorrow afternoon, missing my next ART appt, and the gym closes at 6. So I guess tomorrow's an off day.

I hope Theia's romp with the reindeer went well tonight! And good luck to all our weekend racers!!!

Wow, govandals, that's rough. I hope he pulls through. And I know what the in-law connection is like. I have kick-ass in-laws and, if I ever were to divorce DH, those would be relationships that I'd want to maintain.

Anyhow, I am posting in here to say that I WILL be getting back to the gym this weekend.

Morning,

Well, I grew up in MN so I can relate to the weather...I don't miss trying to run in the snow but I sure as heck miss running in the cold/cool weather. I learned to make friends with the TM up there.

It's already around 80 here and way too sunny, going to be in the mid 80's all week. I don't remember what it's like to be cold on the start of a run, I guess the extreme either way is a bit much.

No planned run today, still trying to follow a recovery schedule, but I'll probably crack and go out for a few...I've got to get a life.

Thanks for the help with the photos yesterday, my head no longer hurts...now I just need to get something interesting to post...hum?

Gov again best wishes to FIL

Well the weather has changed here. The bizarre Southern weather has changed to no rain tomorrow and 70 degrees! Thus I don't have to adjust my schedule and will get my second ever 5 miler in tomorrow afternoon. That just leaves regular cross training today. Good luck to everyone in your fitness exercises today.

Back from my 10 miler.

Trail was icy and snow covered in parts. I came very close to taking a nasty spill going around a turn but was saved by a post and rail fence. It did warm up at around the 6 mile point (sun came out) but it stayed icy. Ended up doing the last two miles around a big parking lot to avoid the ice.

Good morning, folks. I was going to do 15-16, but I just got a call from a friend who wants to come in from out of town to see the baby this afternoon. Umm, we got a lot of cleaning to do! So I'll keep the run short (7ish, maybe). If I feel up to it, maybe I'll go out again this evening to do the rest.

I've never done a double before, so this could be a good thing. Then again, I think the odds are good that I just ain't gonna feel like doing it later. We shall see..

Good luck to all the racers!

I am trying to deboozahol my body, so I can go out for a cold 10 miles, but that should be a joy compared to the freezing rain that I may or may not attempt to run in tomorrow (perhaps going to the gym and using the dreadmill for 3 hours would be the lesser of two evils option?).

I ran with my group this a.m. Not too many people came, which surprised me. It was actually pretty nice, mid-30's, only light breezes. We had to stick to the streets because the paths were snowcovered, and it's kind of a boring route. I entertain myself by playing the "would I buy this house" game. Anyway, I didn't quite get in 5 miles, and I felt pretty sluggish, but at least I did it.

That is one of the funniest things I've read in a while!

Just back from an EZ 5 miles, now it's time to get some stuff done around the house.

I attempted to make a race report from my notes if anyone is interested:
http://www.kickrunners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16348

Stay safe of the ice all, it sounds dangerous out there!

Just ran with my neighbor. Like most of my runs with him, it was shorter but faster than my usual long runs. We did 8.25 miles at a 8:25 pace. How's that for consistency!

Like I said earlier, I was planning on doing more miles than this today. So maybe I'll go grab a few more miles this evening. Hmm. I guess we'll see how I feel in a few hours...
