Not ready for TV yet.

I get to run today (treadmill after church). I will run at a steady, easy pace. Ten's, maybe? It's too tempting to keep cranking it up.

There's a very interesting discussion in the weekly. In that vein, I keep looking for cool jobs in the PNW and found this just now, so I'll be applying: http://careers.nwjobs.com/careers/jobsearch/detail?kAndEntire=Attorney&location=&jobId=30056423&viewType=main&networkView=main&offset=

Good morning, TW and Opie. Good luck on that job application, Opie. TW, good luck with keeping those canes level!

Good morning to the rest of you too!

I am headed to yin yoga soon. DH and I ran a beautiful rolling hilll 10k yesterday. It was a road race through the prettiest emerald green hills of a little valley in central MT. He and I were neck-and-neck until the water stop at mile 5. I walked through it while getting a drink and he kept going. He really had a much stronger finish than I did. I was surprised as he seemed a little off during the first 3-4 miles but he found his groove. One of these days I need to start doing a little speedwork in my weekly runs. I've been avoiding it for fear of getting injured again but maybe it's safe to try now.

I ran a local 5K race this morning. Not suprisingly, I didn't post a stellar time (24:38), but I had a fun just being out there running for a change. It was a lovely day and it was nice to be out there running instead of the heavy duty resistance training program I've been doing. Surprisingly, I came in 1st in my AG, and came away with some hardware and a gift certificate to a local restaurant!!!

10.8 miles at 5:15 this morning. Aimed for 8:45 - 9:00 miles but ran 8:20's 8:30's the whole way. A couple of nasty hills with 1-2-3 punches to them. THAT's out of the way.

46 miles for me for the week - my 2nd straight (and probably last in 2010) 40 mile week.

It sure was a lovely view.

TW, you rock!

Nice race Robin! You too Choove and hubby.

Thanks Mariposai. Yes I did do 20 today and in case anybody wants to know how good a 20 miler feels after 7 miles and a race the day before, it doesn't! Very slow! Brutal day, and I was tired, but the good news is that this kind of back-to-back workout was a confidence-builder for me. No aches or pains anywhere, just totally fatigued.

So I am now exactly 3 weeks out from my marathon. Next Saturday I am racing a 20k and planning a day off this thursday, my first since June 28th. I expect to run it well. Spareribs

Mariposai, what a wonderful night time 20 miler you had! Beautiful moon... I think you're going to do very well at your marathon.

Yay to Choovie on her race with DH. And I loved the pictures of Choovie in that link to Tim's photo thread that tw posted yesterday... Mr. Choovie is sure running well these days, no?

Yay to Ribs on his last 20 miler, capping a tough weekend of running. I think you're going to have a greta time at TC... both socially and race-wise.

Good luck to Opie on the job! I really do think that'd be fun to have you in the PNW. What's DW think of the (potential) change? How was the run?

Heme, you ran 12 miles on an achey knee? Well, if there was no question before, that should answer it: you really are a runner. Why do we do things like that? I sure hope you can get it taken care of soon.

Happy Belated 16th Birthday to CNYrunner!

I can't imagine running with canes. Someone ought to YouTube that...

I ran 13.6 miles yesterday, up Ester Dome and back. The good news is I made it to the top about 30 seconds faster than last week, but then the out-and-back part took a little longer as I had to walk thru bushes to get around a hugh puddle at the top. We really need to drive the truck up there with shovels and dig some drainage ditches. But I'm hoping with the sunny dry weather we've got forecast (and it can't be wrong... right??) the puddles will dry up a lot by next Saturday.

Then I went berry picking and got almost a gallon of lowbush cranberries. They're so pretty! But I must say, that's not the best post-run activity I could've come up with. My back is still reminding me. Today I'll run about 9 or so. I've switched my longer runs to Saturday during taper because Equinox is a Saturday race. Also just seems to work out better, timing wise. Another clear sunny day here, with most of the birch trees a bright yellow and lots of leaves already on the ground. Summer sure went fast this year...

Fantastic 20's, Mari and Ribs!

WTG on the AG win, Robin!

Nice racing, as well, Choovie!

((((((((Susan))))))) I'm so sorry for the loss of your cousin on 9/11. I'm sure that none of us can truly understand the depth and breadth of the pain of that event for those that were personally affected, or how so many related and peripheral events since then keep those memories raw and hurtful. You're more than entitled to your feelings.... all of them! Please don't let a couple of what I'm sure were well-intentioned remarks keep you away from us here. You are an important part of this place!

7 trail miles with my training partner this morning. I'd only intended 4 or 5, depending on how I felt, not wanting to strain either the ankle or knee. We got off to a slow start, as both of us had fairly big runs yesterday and felt more than a bit creaky. But there was nary a peep out of the wonky knee so after we got to 4, I figured what the heck.... let's head for the Maze.... a pretty, but twisty and turny network of single track mountain biking trails that rarely fails to discombobulate my usually good sense of direction. And yea, we got lost! By the time we found our way out and did the last of the "must do" trails, we'd hit 6 miles with a mile still to go to the parking lot. And we still had enough left to pick it up a bit on the double track back and finish strong, but tired!

Enjoy your day, everyone!!

Happy belated birthday to CNY

riley...I second what Heme so eloquently said in the above post.

Nice 20 miler posi & ribs & nice long runs the rest of you

8.5 miles for me, still tired. Saw a bear just as I got back home. I think he was displaced by the recent fire. Wore compression socks for the first time (me, not the bear). Didn't notice much difference until I took them off. They do look good with SS's sisters purple gaiters though.

This site keeps hanging up-aargh! Thanks to all for the encouragement. Evanflein, DW is supportive of a possible move to the PNW. The run was awesome, my longest continuous run since the relay and I'm definitely on the mend!

tw - another great outing for you! Cool.

Robin bringing home the hardware and she hasn't even begun speed work. And now she's ripped!

Awesome 20's Ribs and Mari! Now it's taper time!

I got out for 4.5 this morning before golf. I intended to go our nice and EZ, but the conditions were perfect and my body wanted to let it all out, so I got 2.5 miles of sub 8:00 tempo pace. Our town is celebrating its 350th anniversary and so the Minutemen were out preparing to parade in full regalia near the site of the 1776 skirmish by the North Bridge. It was a nice way to start the day.

Yes, Heme did put it very well. I know that forgiveness is an integral part of healing, and I really do believe that. But I've never had such a horrific loss to test that belief.

I meant to throw a ^5 out to Robin for her race! How is our buff doc doing these days? How do you like your new house??

DS1 came home with laundry... then when it was finishing, he drove my car back to the dorms and I ran up to get it. This is a really nice run, a couple of hills but for the most part a net downhill run. I pushed the pace just a little, goal of holding a steady hard (but not "too hard") effort. Ended up with some really nice tempo miles, and the whole run was 7:55 average pace for 10 miles. Got in my car and drove home.

Nice runs yesterday and today Evan. That's a great tempo run!

It looks like I missed some controversy yesterday. Darn!

I ran yesterday morning. My longest run of this year; 14.5 miles. It was also my fastest long run of the year too at 7:40/mi. I attribute to one of three things: 1) eating the free sample of Wheaties Fuel cereal that came with my newspaper before I went running; 2) taking two Gu's during the run that had expired in May 2008; or 3) getting stung by a yellowjacket on the inside of my lip at mile 8. I'm not sure what it was, but something did the trick. Followed by a nine hour football party which featured a lot of beer and bacon and a nice Duck win over Tennessee.

Today was a rest day and I putzed around doing a big ol' list of odds and ends. Tomorrow I play in a golf tournament, so I won't run then either.

No ads at all for me, and I log on using three different computers and an iPhone. But I know of several folks who no longer post here because of the ads bombardment. This makes me think it may be in the KR personal settings somewhere.

ETA: Yep, under 'My Profile', 'Edit Account Details', there is an advertising preference. Mine is off.
