There are some little ne'er do wells playing "on" the catchment pond behind my house.
 
Allegedly it's frozen.
 
Am I responsible for rescuing the little dipsh*ts when they fall through?
 
I think they were also harassing my dogs through the fence. <img alt="angry5.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/angry5.gif">

Liability depends if the catchment pond is on your property or not. If so, what reasonable steps have you taken to prevent others (kids who will be kids) from using it? We'll hope you don't have to find out.
 
I have to chase neighborhood kids away a tree in my front yard that they sometimes want to climb because I don't want them falling and breaking a bone or two and suing me.

If the catchment is on your property, someone's parents would raise hell if you didn't do anything at all.

Actually, I meant moral responsibility.
 
I live on the airbase and the catchment is right behind my house.
 
I know their parents have NO idea what they are doing as those kids don't live in this section of housing and the catchment is completely hidden.
