QUESTIONS

1. Why do you run? I don't anymore, because my doctor has advised against it. He's also my BF so I think maybe I should take his advice. I began running for health reasons (weight, diabetes, etc.) and dropped almost 70 lbs. Most of which is still gone six years later. I really miss long runs...

2. What is your greatest accomplishment? I don't think I really have one. I've mastered lots of little things, which I find more valuable than one big thing.

3. What is your motto/theme song? I don't have one of those either, but I'm really enjoying a bumper sticker I found the other day that says "Sometimes, the dragon wins."

4. How do you deal with bad runs? I'm going to substitute "bad attempts at something" for "bad runs". For the most part, I just keep trying but there are times I feel there is value in putting whatever it is I'm dealing with down for a moment. More often than not the "ah-HAH!!" moment will happen when you aren't looking for it.

5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How? skipped.

6. Who do you admire most? Anyone who has ever excelled at their natural gifts despite societal pressures. The Billy Elliots of the world.

7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received? "You don't have to put up with assholes just cause they're blood." Mom

8. What do wish you had learned younger? To try something more than a couple of times.

9. What do you wish you could do but can't? Run. I'm bone/bone in my hips. I'll be crippled in five years if I do...so...

10. How would your friends describe your personality? I hate questions like these. I dunno...what say you, friends?

11. What do you wear running? favorite outfit? Don't have one anymore.

12. What has been your favorite race? Each one was good for it's own reasons.

13. Do you have a goal race right now? No...

14. What makes you happy? People who get me.

15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past. I am part of a poly family - in that I have a boyfriend and a girlfriend and they are married to each other. It's been almost a year and so far has been the easiest relationship I have ever, ever had.

16. Tell us one interesting thing about another user of this forum that has not been posted (at least not often) on this forum in the past (make sure the other person will not object to posting the info!). CarbonfiberRibs gives excellent Mylar blanket hugs.

So so sorry you can't run. That is teh suck. Can you do other stuff?

I did not know about the poly family thing. You threw me at first when you mentioned your BF...cuz I know you've talked about your GF in the past. What shocks me most is that it's an easy relationship. I'm glad it works for you all.

FWIW, I think you're one of the coolest peeps on this board.

I didn't know that you aren't able to run due to health issues. That must be so hard!

Eh...yeah...sometimes. It's hard to have built all these relationships around a singular activity and then not be able to do that anymore...but look at it this way.

You'll always have curbcrew in me!

I have always (okay, in the time that I've been with the forum) appreciated the honesty and frankness with which you approach your life. Thank you so much for sharing you with me and with us. You do make a difference.

Dude!

1. I'm sorry you've got those health issues to prevent you from doing something you love.
2. You have a sexy voice. I've got Fionn's CD.
3. You are great mom for addressing Ian's issues and being open and honest about it all. Someone might possibly benefit from your experience with him. Thank you.

Alia, thanks for stepping right up and getting us back to these POTD's.
I hope you are maintaining your quit and it's one of those things you may have to do try more then once. Not running does not make you any less a member of the community, I am glad you are here.
