What the heck are you guys doing to yourselves?

That is all.

Oh, no it isn't. I feel bad for Huntsman. The only sane individual in the race. Maybe 2016... Maybe, just maybe Obama will grow a pair and ask him to be his running mate AS A REPUBLICAN.

You must realize by now that normal people don't stand a chance with the Republicans! I actually lean toward the conservative side and did vote for Huntsman in the primary... that said, Republicans want someone who will dance their dance when they say so ( think "W"... Puppet from the start)

Anyhoo... ain't politics fun?

With some notable exceptions people used to live in diverse populations. They knew - and liked - people who disagreed with them, and they were willing to "live and let live". Now, despite the increased openness of our society, people are more insular and unwilling to consider that a view that doesn't agree 100% with their beliefs might have some validity to it.

Actually, now that I think about it, some of this may be a reaction against the uncertainty that our openness and abundent information can introduce into people's lives. It's easier to retreat into "I'm right, he's wrong" when you're uncertain what's correct.

A national political correspondent also provided an interesting viewpoint a few months ago. He was commenting how people in congress used to be stuck in DC for long periods and therefore tended to socialize more with each other. (A lot of it was probably them feeling that only someone in a similar position could understand the pressures they were under.) This allowed them to get to know each other and recognize their commonality.

These days, congressmen leave town whenever they can, and tend to stay within their own caucases when they have to stay in town. They don't get to know their colleagues from the other side like they used to, and it's easier to demonize someone you don't know.

I think Congress ought to institute a new rule that says every member should dine at least once a week with a colleague who's name is drawn at random without consideration of either individual's party affiliation, seniority, or committee memberships. The only rules would be that each person would pay his or her own way, and no "shop" talk would be allowed.

The more press that Huntsman was getting, the more I was beginning to like him, but at the end of the day, he is also Mormon so if Romney can't pull it off with his record and name recognition, Hunstman won't either. Not sure why he dropped out so early though.

Is Sarah Palin really out of this or could she still drop her name in the hat?

Not sure why. The economy is stable, job situation is pretty good, housing market is decent, our banks are solvent, we had a balanced budget and were paying off our deficit until other countries got the world into a spot of bother but we've turned that around again. Public health care, taxes aren't too bad. On the whole a decent place if you don't mind the cold in the winter.

Yes, we are pressing hard for the Merkuns to build big walls. Dumbasses down there think it's so we won't get in.

That's a really sweet idea ....about as likely as the merger of Israel and Syria. Why can't we all just get along?

What the US needs is a legitimate third party strategically placed BETWEEN the 2 parties rather than out on the fringe at the ends of the spectrum.. Now that would lead to a new spirit of co-operation.

I know that, and I know you know I know that.

The idea is an interesting one - not with Huntsman, that can never happen. But what if Obama spread his net a bit further and grabbed a conservative statesman as his running mate? He had rebulicans in his cabinet... why not one in his administration?
Why that fine Christian woman, Sarah Palin. I can't imagine a more appropriate VP for him.
No! She's too entertaining.

Although, she hasn't been in the news in the last month or so.
