Obviously nothing with alcohol is going to help weight loss, but what's the best way to avoid destroying my efforts? Opting for low-calorie drinks is obvious, but what else? I don't want to go into a night with an empty stomach, but do want to keep that day relatively low-cal. Ideas?

any hard liquor with diet soda should be pretty low cal.

http://www.calorieking.com/foods/cal...1MSZwYXI9.html

vodka is 64 cals/per serving, so with diet coke, that is not too bad!

Probably your lowest cal bet is something like a white wine spritzer, which is half white wine and half (no cal) club soda. If you're going to sip drinks all night, this is a good bet b/c it'll keep you hydrated and also not get you wasted. Meri's suggestion is good, too: rum & diet coke, gin & diet tonic, etc

Oh, this brings back memories of drinking in the dorms.

What about *gag* Michelob Ultra? Or a "better" light beer like Sam Adams or Amstel light?

Honestly I've found it incredibly difficult to keep the weight momentum in the right direction if I regularly drink alcohol. So, I don't. But ... I also haven't recently turned 21.

might be low cal, but remember that alcohol targets the liver, which instantly affects glycogen usage/production, and thereby does interesting things to the metabolism and fat storage. not that a drink or two would kill make you obese.

I think I'll mix some vodka-gatorades for my golf bag tomorrow - 8:30 T-Time. I don't drink often anymore, but I still enjoy it.

We used to play "Miller Open" - Loser(s) of each hole had to slam a beer before teeing off the next hole - 18 wholes was tough if you were not so good at golf.
