What about race to 10% of your previous annual mileage?

EG. My mileage is looking like it'll be about 1100 miles, so I'm racing to 110 miles.
Meri's may be 3000 so she'd be racing to 300 miles
Someone elses may be 300 so they're racing to 30.

Everyone one has set there own target so it's fair, everyone should reach the target after about 5-6 weeks. An individual or team event. First to hit the mileage wins.

A good idea?

Liath,

It's an interesting idea.

One problem I see with this is that not everyone here is a runner. This contest would exclude non-runners. Inclusion of all has been a guiding principle for the games we have offered. Also, the VRAA concept has been a team game. Not sure if your idea could fit into a team format.

It could be a separate game. Most motivated runners would get to their 10% in one month. Then there's the possible dispartity, say, if one runner had a poor 2007 total of miles, then comes busting out their 10% in the first two weeks of '08.

What's providing the motivation here? Could your suggestion be a sub-set of the current VRAA format?

Let's see what others think.

I am starting to organize the next round of the VRAA for January. I look forward to the input from you and the others in this forum.

I don't think you should do this any more, I'm injured and can't play

I just schemed it while out running one day, use it/scrap it/adapt it. Up to you.

Well, hmmm. I like it actually. It doesn't reward or penalize the heavy mileage runners. In a 5 week period people can realistically run 10% of their annual mileage. A bonus point for each runner who makes that mark at the end of the VRAA.
