At any rate, a mighty wind is blowing here in Calgary. Wow. Gusts will peak at 60 mph or so, but at the moment they're close to 50 and the noise is something, both a low pitch rumble and a higher pitch whistling.

The road in front of our building is closed due to a billboard in the process of falling. Going home this evening is going to be eventful.

It was interesting. Massive grass fires fed by 70 mph winds destroyed homes south of the city. There was some damage downtown, but not as much as earlier this winter when we had sustained winds that did about 100 million in damage to property.

It was also the warmest January 14th on record, topping out over 60f. 16 years ago we arrived in Calgary on the coldest January 4th on record. That's Calgary for you.

We had some good wind over Christmas Break. Mt Washington got up to 120mph.. That was the day my husband let my son hike up to the top of Mt Moosilauke where the wind actually blew him down on the trail.. He is not a lightweight ( football/ shot put ) Hope it settles down for you soon!

Sounds like your winds might be headed this way. Record breaking temperatures again today. It RAINED today. Rain, in January. Not Freezing rain, but just regular rain, though the freezing rain is coming. The river that goes through town is flowing actual movement, they just showed it on the news. It feels like October or April right now. Crazy.
