This is my realistic goal for Houston Marathon - Yes I would like to get there quicker and yes I would like to weigh less, but given my track record over the last 15 months - I think this would have me turning cartwheels!

Today Sept 27: 280

Did 100 miles on the bike this weekend. 50 each day. It was the first time I've been on a bike in two years, and I've really underestimated the effects of it. It's like I just ran an ultra. I've needed nine hours of sleep each of the last two nights, and all my runs have been less than two miles. After a two week stretch of solid training, perhaps it's good to throw my body this x-training curve/then back off for a few days. Who knows. I seem to have been stuck in the 280-285 range for a long time.

By the way, the weigh-in yesterday (282) was before some of the extra calories I needed for the ride had been "flushed out." So Tuesday is more in-line with the trend.

Since the week after labor day, I've at least been consistent with "sinkers", where daily weight is below a 20-day weighted average. But the dashed yellow line, which is my goal, is running away on me. I don't know if I'm just plateauing or if I need to make some changes. I guess I'll find out in the next couple of weeks.

Not sure where I went wrong... thought I ate pretty well. Didn't run much + tons of work stress probably. Balls.

Chris I do not believe the +4 - Be good this week and it will be back down.

Steve that is a lot of stress to put on your body - I like that you added a different stressor. My different stressor is when I run trails or hills instead of on TM or flat Neenah WI ... Basically I am bland.

I am doing the old alternate foot into icey water bucket / heat water bucket 2 times a day. 3-4x (5 minutes in each) takes up a lot of time. This morning I was making my family breakfast with the buckets in front of the stove.

Well...wound up with a very small compression fracture of my tibia and a hugely sprained ankle from a trail run on Tuesday night. Rolled my ankle about an hour into a 3 hour run. Thankfully I only had to hike out 2 miles on it and wasn't on some 13,000' peak in the middle of nowhere...because that short hike *sucked*.

Gonna have to watch my diet really closely now. No running for a week, then super low level stuff, working back up to the Ozark 100 on Nov 5, if the ankle can tolerate it.

GD it - I missed this ... Sorry for the injury - Although I do not climb big peaks - I do occassionally think about injury when running in the woods alone at night - Miles from any road.

I hope it heals quickly!
