Me too. Not post-race, of course, but a nasty head cold nonetheless. I am not pleased.
How's the legs feelin'??

oooouuuuccch. Feels like someone punched me in the legs and they're really bruised. Not that I feel that I was under-trained for the event, but maybe I didn't taper as much as I should have, or maybe the faster speed did it, but yeah.. ouch.

I don't suppose you have an exercise to recommend for strengthening the upper parts of the quads do you? Upper as in... imagine that you jam your hands in the front pocket of your jeans and shove your hands as far as the pockets will allow. Where your fingertips extend the most...that's where I'm hurting the worst now.

Hopefully my massage therapist will be able to help out, in an hour. I should get my upper body weights done before then but I simply do. not. care!

Thanks for asking.

/tosses some Dayquil to Tonya and Tim! Feel better soon, guys!

Ack! So many sick people! I sincerely hope you all feel better soon!!

Such amazing running and racing this weekend! Woo Hoooo for the 30's crew! Outstanding! Seems like the brutality of the summer training is paying off now! Yay!

4 miles to run today - I brought my gym bag so I can run over my lunch hour. Why does September always seem so damn busy? There's not enough hours in the day to do all that I need to do! I need another me.

Happy trails everybodeeeeee!

I got home way too late last night to throw in a load of laundry, so my running clothes didn't get washed.

So I just walked a few miles with Gus. Saw the Eskimo runner's wife out, who also bundles up to run. Long running pants, long sleeve t, collared fleece (zipped all the way up to the top of the collar) & gloves for 62° seems like a lot to me.

Anyway, beautiful morning. Kind of looks like it's going to storm.

I love me some BigG!

I ran on saturday morning before heading down to help out with the Fiddlers registration stuff. It was a gorgeous day and I was happy thinking about all the people who would get to enjoy the course the next day.

Got up at 6 AM yesterday, headed down to the start/finish area to load the van with water, Gatorade and cups. Then set up the stops (6 of them along the course) and make sure my volunteers knew what to do. I kept telling them to make sure they had enough cups poured, that they'd see more than 500 runners come through looking for a drink. And I told them to expect to get soaked at some point. Us runners don't worry about keeping anyone dry when we need a drink FAST!

The winner finished the full in 2:47 and change. And in 3rd place...a woman! She finished in 3:09 and change. Yay for chicks! Not that I'm biased or anything, right? All in all, it was a great day. Lots of first time racers, PBs, smiles and pride.

Good morning all! I had really hoped to get out for some easy miles last night but the journey home was longer than I expected and I didn't arrive until after 8:00 p.m. Poops. So some easy miles on tap for tonight and my yoga DVD.

Jill - so glad to see that your training is picking back up again!

(((30s sore legs)))

Oh and my only RTB injury was not in my legs, they actually feel pretty good today but rather my noggin. I wore a Nike hat on my night time run, it had an embroidered swoosh on it at the exact spot where my head lamp sat. Created a swoosh on my forehead which eventually went away but left a nice little knot. I was briefly a walking Nike advertisement!

G'morning all - you're pretty beat up if you realize that a nice easy swim isn't going to be in the cards for you, like I did yesterday afternoon (well, provided I swam without a kick, which I hardly do anyway, but that's another story...)

I think I foam-rollered my legs and golf-balled the bottoms of my feet enough to get out for some nice ez miles after work today. I'm beginning to think that 25K on the trails would've been a better distance for me, but what's done is done

RIL - that picture late yesterday (and for that matter, that effort) was simply inspirational

Funny stuff BigG!

(((((30s sore and hurty parts))))) and good runs, workouts and/or rest days to you all

The ache is pretty much constant, some days are worse than others.

Which reminds me, I have to call the doc to see if they got that insurance mess straightened out so i can get more blood drawn, and I still have 30 pages to read about lyme disease. Gak.

Just for fun, here's the elevation profile for my Saturday race based on my Garmin

Redwood Park 30K Trail Run

The first 12 or so miles is the 20K loop (a few hard climbs but nothing major - the descent to the the relatively calm sections mile 11-12 was actually the toughest thing about the loop, because it was narrow single-track and full of rocks, ruts and roots.)

That spike after mile 14 was pretty typical of the 10K loop - that was 400 feet up in a quarter mile. I plugged that into a calculator and it comes out to a 30.3% grade.

ETA: corrected link
