Hi Everyone!!

11 after work?? Wow, Bob!

Happy Bday, Cindi!

I was on vacation last week-- sooooo nice to be away. At a farm in Mindi's neck of the woods (near New Glarus). Runs, bike rides, some good country runs, beer..yay!!! I had thought about calling you, Mindi but I was sure lazy and the thought of coordinating anything made me want to take a nap. OH OHOHOH!! AND I saw sandhill cranes one morning in a field. I was taking a walk and there they were. I was little girl excited about it. So prettttyyyy.

I'm back now, but struggling. I have two distinct things going on, one perhaps worse than the other. :( I've had some hip pain in the past and that's back a bit, but resolvable. I'm also struggling with my left foot that is sore on the top and makes me limp in the morning and hurts at the beginning of a run. Gets better during the run, then after the run, worse. No swelling or bruising but I'm going in tomorrow...my concern is a stress fracture. We'll see. I"m not running on it until I know. Thanks to Brandy's friend who alerted me to the possibility...if she hadn't said something I would have never looked it up...just tried to sum it up to being old.er.

My own dumb fault--I increased my mileage wayyy too much this summer. I also had shoes that from the get go were not the best fit. So, I did get a new eval, new kicks and have been stretching and icing. Boooo. BOOOO.

Whadddi miss??? :)

I've been looking at your "goods" online, Kath (is it Friday yet??) and love your stuff. The bracelets are super cool and there are about 40 s/p shakers I like. I am thinking Christmas and birthday already. You are soooo talented, you know?

KKKKK...I'll hush myself and read a bit so I know how your lives are.

Now, get off the computer and go run, yous guys.

I had a lot of fun with my friend last night, and she did end up staying over. We went to the Surly Girl Saloon, which has great food and a unique atmosphere. Think Wild West meets Moulin Rouge meets Zombies. This is my friend whose mom died earlier this year. She is learning to live through her grief, though she said that it is still very wrenching to go visit her dad because she keeps expecting her mom to be there.

Tonight is more fun, hanging with my brother and his family and friends for dinner at Barley's Brewing Company, a brewpub that has been around since I was in college and probably longer. It was in walking distance of where he lived and worked back in the early 90's and he goes back every chance he can get.

Hello, my name is Amichel, and I'm a procrastinator. To that end, I'm removing myself from the boards until I finish a draft proposal. Which, if I actually concentrate, should be finished before lunch :)

Dual birthdays deserve cupcakes for all here - just saying ;)

well, I still feel like carp. I slept better last night but still not good (maybe 6 hrs). Mostly congestion and sneezing right now. Hopefully meds help. I ran 5 yesterday and honestly that time spent running is when I felt my best yesterday. Weird eh

grump morning all...need more coffee.

Sleep was not welcome at our house. Both kids struggled going to sleep. And DD was up and down all night and ended up sleeping on the floor in our room. The result, was not a good nights sleep but a series of short nap. I feel like Carp. i was going to the track this morning, but I shut my alarm off and slept in.

Now I have to work.

Great looking stuff there Kath!!

Dual Birthdays! Happy days, girls!

Lena is feeling much better today. She was happy to go back to daycare with her friends.

I was going to run this morning but it was raining cats and dogs. Plus, I knew I'd need at least an hour and a half and by the time DH got home from backshift I knew I wouldn't have that much time. So I'll have to do it later.

Love all the new stuff, Kath!

Missy and Maria, I hope you guys will show us around the expo and stuff, too! We'll all have to plan a big meet up!

Craney - you should have called me! Although I was crazy busy all weekend anyway. We do have a lot of sandhill cranes around here. I see them all the time on the trail by my house. And, of course, I always think of you when I see them!

Tonya - I hope the doctor has good news for you.

I had a nice 5 miler this morning. It is still crazy humid, but the temps were okay (65). What I am really looking forward to are the next two mornings when it will be in the 50s! cue happy dance!! :)

Happy birthdays to Eccabex & RTFL

Glad to hear Lena is feeling better.

RIL - hope your intervention issues are progressing positively.

Weights this morning. Not much else going on around here.

Maria, Missy, boB - any interest in this: http://wolfpitrunningclub.org/halfmarathon.asp I did it last year, it is a nice course, decent support. Ugly T-shirt was the biggest negative. Missy, this is super close to your new locale (which is probably spitting distance from my office).

So a running QOD:

What is your opinion on the weight groups that some races are putting out there now for divisions? (Athena and Clydesdale).

There seems to be a great deal of variance on what being a "bigger" person is. Some races I have registered for, the weight for a chick has to be 160+, some 145+. I mean, really, that is a huge swing and 145 for a 6' girl is quite a bit different than for a 5'4 girl.

What exactly are these divisions trying to achieve and are they actually doing it?

Kris - sounds like lots of fun!

Last night of golf league tonight. But I think it's going to rain - BOO.

DH and I have embarked on a major weightloss plan. Day 2 - so far, so good.

b) Happy Birthday RTFL and eccabx

iii) feel better sick and hurty folks

D) I don't get the athena thing at all, and I am solidly in either definition. I've looked up results from some races I know of, and I still can't "compete"

5) just back from the massage guy, tweaky hammies and quads should be a-ok now. I'm ready to run.

Hola peoples! I've been absent for a while - I see we're back to one thread a day. Coolio! What else did I miss? I'll try and go catch up on the threads.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINDI AND BECCA!

Katholeenie - I'm not sure if I ever let you know how much Seester Goon and the boyz LERV the froggy salt and pepper shakers! Connor is particularly fond of them. I finally got to see them in person this weekend when we were there for dinner and they're even more awesome in person. I am definitely thinking of a couple more Christmas gift purchases.

My marathon training has been abysmal. Truly Teh Suck. Last summer my training went SO well, but this summer I'm having a really hard time balancing work, kids, boyfriend and running. I'm supposed to be up to a 20 miler this weekend. BWA HAHAHAAAHAAAAAA. Not happening. Plus I'm feeling muy largo. ugh

Happy trails all, I go to catch up on the goings on around here.

Great to see you, BG! I'm with you on the marathon training. I'm finding it tough to juggle everything, too. Especially the long runs. But I knew it was gonna be tough so I guess I can only do my best!

QOD: I don't know what the deal is on the weight divisions. I've never been in a race (that I know of) that has those. My pet peeve here is the age groups all the races use. They have 20-39. And every other group goes by 10s (ie. 40-49, 50-59, etc.). So there's me going up against all those teeny tiny fast 20 somethings. Why can't us 30s have our own group?

I felt I needed chocolate so I raided the vending machine. Kit Kat is now eaten.

Happy Birthday Ladies!!!!

No run for me today, used my downtime between practices to go home and sleep. Feel mucho better. When I woke up one of these was waiting for me to take to my office. Nice surprise.

QOD: Brandy, in my opinion it's just another example of the trend in our society to see that as many people as possible get rewards. It's the adult version of the little league participant trophy.

I guess I should answer my own QOD

First off I think I would feel extremely self conscious about registering under one of these categories. I mean, you are kind of putting out there that you are heavier than society accepted 'norms' right? That being said, the weight limit for the half this past week was 145..so I qualified. If I would have registered under it I would have taken 2nd. but I just CAN'T. It seems like cheating... and i think if I got to the point where I was under 145..i might look pretty sickly.

I agree with KP that I think they are trying to tempt less competitive (as in fast not determined) people into running their races but come on really? At what point does this stop? I was reading one form and they suggested having the "forgot to train category" and the "not quite sobered up from last night".
