I had a MISERABLE run last night. Super humid, hot, buggy and too much honeydew melon led to a bloated uncomfortable run. But I got 'er all done, which made me feel pretty accomplished even if it only was 5 miles.

Oh, and for the first time, I do think EVER, I ran sans hat. My pony tail held nicely and I barretted the bangs and thought, why not? See what happens! Well, what happened was sweat ran into my eyes - a lot. I think I'll go back to the hat.

70 degrees here with 100% humidity. WHEN will this humidity GO? agh.

Heat advisory here today until 7 p.m. - it's supposed to get up to 92 with a real feel of 107. I may not mow my lawn after all! curd.

Hope you all stay cool today!

I decided to sleep in and run tonight or take a rest day. So humid all the windows are wet (again). We also have a heat advisory today until 7. Maybe the rest day thing sounds really really good. :)

Way to go, Goon!

My return to fitness plan hasn't panned out this week, and tonight isn't going to work either. And I went out for dinner last night and made the mistake of getting the roasted veg bisque and the mushroom and asparagus pasta...not thinking that both would be very creamy and heavy. I brought a peach and a plum for breakfast. Oof.

Way to get 'er done, BigG.

Like Runninlaw, I might take a day off today. Yesterday's 8 mile tempo run took more out of me that it should have. I'm still feeling a little sore from the accident a week and a half ago, especially in my chest. After the run last night, I was almost having a little trouble breathing. I don't mean that in a OhmyGodcall911 kind of way. I just felt like there was a weight pressing down on me. Probably because this was the first time I had really gotten my heart rate up since the accident, and I'm still not 100%. So yeah, today will probably be a day off. Or maybe a really short and slow thing, if I really feel the need to run...

Maureen although heavy, that meal sounds really yummy!

6 or 7k this morning. It's cooled off quite a bit, we're getting a break from the humid weather. Not sure if that's for good or what. I kinda hope not. I love summer running!

I'm thinking I need to get some yoga in my schedule. I'm really tight. How many times a week should one do yoga to get benefits from it?

Bob - might just be the weather. I felt that way yesterday too without an accident or a tempo run :)

I did C25K W1D2 on the TM last night and my workout with little miss evil this morning. I go to the chiro at noon. I'm debating between Spin and W1D3 tomorrow. I'm probably not going to attempt doing both:)

BigG - I hear ya. I'm ready for this heat to go!!!

boB - I took Tuesday off for the same reason. Take it easy. I'm thinking of taking tomorrow off too so I'll be fully hydrated for my Saturday morning long run.

I had an allegy issue (runny eyes) all day yesterday. Of course, that manifested into a sinus headache about 1 hr before I went out to run. Yet, I still managed to run 10 miles in the heat. The official temp at the start of my run was 99 !!! I went to the LRS, did one lap of the 5 mile course solo, then rested about 20 mins as the group gathered for the Wed night run, then did another lap of the 5 mile route with a few of my friends. I'll take it. I actually felt pretty decent. Whatever.

BigG - I picked up one of those Craft headband things and it seems to help. Sometimes in the morning, I don't want to wear a visor

Ran 3 miles this morning. either biking for 30 min on the trainer or running again SLOW tonight with peeps if they want some company

fun: Ragnar is only 8 days away! We decided to add a RollerGirl type of theme to our team. We all are dubbing ourselves with alter egos with either RED in the name or something similar. I am RUBY CLIP-HERS

Isn't heaviness/tightness in your chest a sign of heart attack? Or is that just for women? I know women's symptoms are weird.

Crap night of very little sleep = waterlogged brain today. I walked Gus first thing before it feels like 100+, and it was already Sofa King humid. blech.

Now that we've had breakfast I'm going to snuggle up with my boys and have a nap.

Early meeting on the other side of... everything, means no swim this morning. I'll try to fit in a good run this afternoon, but given the humidity (all our windows are steamed up) I think it might be a TM run.

Oh wow, I felt the exact same thing last night! I kept trying to wiggle my head and shake out my arms trying to loosen up my chest and back because it was sooo tight. I didn't think I was having trouble breathing but I noticed that I kept lifting my chin up, like I was trying to get more air. And by the time I got home my throat and lungs felt fiery, I had to get up in the middle of the night for a Ricola. Must be the humidity?

Well that run sucked. Baboon ass, monkey balls, choose whatever to add on at the end.

73F, 90% humidity (dewpoint is 70F) out there and I tried to do my long run today instead of Sunday (I can go in late today and not so much every day until the 22nd). Not a smart move. Managed 10 miles. Looked I jumped into a pool fully clothed. Fuck summer, I'm ready for fall, or a move back to the PNW.

boB - like I said the other day, if you bruised/strained any muscles in/around your ribs they will be sore for a while longer, and especially sore if you use them more (aka going for a run) As long as you're not having any sharp pains when you inhale or exhale you're probably ok to keep at it.

Holy cows is it humid out here again today. 7 slow miles done and the sweat was just pouring off of me. I moved the family north for the summer to avoid this stuff. Thankfully the forcast for next week looks awesome!

Missy, I'm so happy you are still getting out there!!!

B&B, when are you guys up north again? Lutsen, right?

I think I'm heading to Duluth later with my Mom. I think we are going to just drive around/shop a bit and then hang out with my sister and her kids at their soccer game and then get something yummy to eat. I'll stop by to see one of my brothers (he's in a nursing home, had a terrible stroke many years ago after a surgery and has a huge number of complications--both of his legs have been amputated and he only has use of one arm), this could go either way since he isn't really right mentally after his stroke. I hope it goes well but I'm prepared for just about anything.

Morning. Another miserable morning. All the times I talked about moving down south in the winter, well that ain't happening. No way can I run in the stuff. 74 this morning with 100% humidity. Was hoping for 8-10, got through 7 and thought screw it, this feels too hard for an easy run. Drenched to the bone again.

Tonight will hopefully be the last super hot day of the year. Ha, famous last words.

Clare - That race looks like a blast.

Jen - We will be in Lutsen for a race on September 10 and 11. You should come visit.

Morning all! I'm caught in the evening run cycle at the moment and couldn't wake up this morning for my run so back to the evening again - argh. Need to break this and get back on track with the morning miles.

Tim R - I was totally trailing a "you" last night on my run... "you" even stopped to pee alongside the river which only further confirmed it was actually "you"

You really only need once/week and it may take a couple weeks before you start feeling many of the benefits - like running, consistency is key. You'll find yourself leaning out quite a bit too in addition to feeling less tight. Ideally I aim for twice/week but that doesn't happen most of the time. If you find that hard to keep up, just use 10 mins or so every morning or evening and perform basic moves like downward dog, sun salutations, etc.

Yeah, this is what I figured. And no, it wasn't any kind of sharp pain, so I didn't think it was a big deal. I'm sure I'm okay and just need some more time to heal all the way back up. It would probably happen faster if I just stopped running for a few days to recuperate, but I'm too stubborn/stupid to do that...
