Not often I get to be the one starting the thread...but since I'm up at 5:51 getting ready to head to work I thought what the hell.

No run last night, after the debacle of a run/workout I had on Wed I thought I should just take a rest day, plus I didn't make it home from work until 8:30 last night. Stupid soccer team meeting. At least it's going to be fun to watch the boys struggle with their conditioning test today. Some will pass it, but by the looks of some of them last night the term lazy bastage comes to mind.

Hoping to get my run in tonight after I get home, but I have a stop to make first. Our tattoo artist finally has some time in his schedule so I'm going by to talk to him about my design and to see when he can put me on the schedule.

Speaking of tattoos - LL when is your last session? Winter any progress on yours?

Simpsonizeme - will try to play around with it this weekend. Wait, I mean Sunday since Saturday is going to be an 11-12 hour day like today.

Hopefully back later to see if there is a QOD

G'morning, KP. And to everyone else. Woohoo, yup it's Friday! Thank goodness!

It's been raining something good here this morning. I'm planning on a few east miles tonight, and hopefully it'll be cleared up by then. And if not, ah who cares...

I'm sorry that I don't have any comments on anybody's news from this week, but I really haven't been able to keep up. I hope everybody is doing well...

Good morning all.

Last night was one of those "you know you're a runner when" type of runs.

I really didn't want to run on the treadmill so I decided to drive to the Struble Trail. Well on the way over it started to drizzle. I had thoughts of turning around but kept on. Once I got to the trail the floodgates opened and it was downright pouring. Still I pushed on. Early on the local girls XC team running in a pack passed me going the other way (it's an out and back), all sans shirts (okay they were wearing sports bras) and soaking wet, I took this as a sign I had made the right choice to stay. Ended up doing over 6 miles in 51 minutes. Tough run and it felt like I was carrying fifty extra pounds due to the soaking clothing. It never stopped raining the entire run.

Kevin - August 23rd.

Well, the verdict on this morning's run- do it later at the gym. It seriously isn't that much better out there at 6 am. 80* + all that humidity is not comfortable by any stretch. Yesterday was a struggle to breathe, so I figured the tradeoff of TM would be at least equal to that.... I'll probably go ahead and do my last weight workout for the week (goal is 4x/wk- 2 arm and 2 leg days). That way, I'll have Sat. completely off and will be nice and fresh for my LR (outside!) on Sun.

Today is the last day of pre-planning. Students will be here Mon! Actually, today is "come get your schedule and lockers and a million forms to fill out" day (they call it "Sneek a Peek" at school) so I will be sitting in the hall selling locker rentals for 2 1/2 hrs. At least this year I will know some of the kids. And I know more about how the school works. Last year parents would ask me questions about specific procedures or who/where someone/thing was and I had to say "today is my 5th day! I have no clue!"

Ooh, and one of my colleagues told me her husband has more free tickets to a concert at Chastain (outdoor concert venue. Very cool!) to see the Gypsy Kings! So we're going!! Only downside, it's Sun. night- right before the first day of school. Maybe we won't stay the whole time?? It will be lots of fun, though! I've wanted to see them since I was in HS.

Well, hope all the sickies are feeling better today. TGIF!

Back later (hopefully!)

Good morning folks.

I'm up way too early since I can't sleep. No run for me today, but I do plan on hitting the pool at some point.

LL, would you say it was raining like 10 whole clouds?

Good luck with Sneak a Peek day Beth.

Yay Friday. Now if I could just get some sleep...

morning gang,

morning KP, Bob and LL, Beth and Kris!!!

well I now deem myself ready for the Ragnar Relay in two weeks.

Yesterday at 11:30am-5.0 miles (8:22 pace)
yesterday at 4:35pm-4.1 miles (8:23 pace)
not in bed until 12:05 am-sleep til 4:30am
out the door at 4:53am-7.9 miles (8:47 pace)

In the relay the order is 7.9, 5.0 and then 4.1 so it is not exact, but it is still 3 separate runs totaling 17 miles, spread over fewer than 30 hours, on very little sleep. having done it I now know I am ready both physically and mentally.

I guess this also qualifies as a "you know you are a runner when" moment

Only things I cannot account for are the terrain and driving around in a van trying to rest as we move along on the route.
That was a good one, Kerik. You have mail, btw.

I'm on my way out the door for an east 5 miler. I have a long run tomorrow of supposedly 11, but I may move it to Sunday. We will see.

I forgot to say: I got a gift yesterday from a student who is on the CC team--we always talk about running and she said last week that my talking about running a marathon and now a 1/2 inspired her to do the same next year when she graduates!! I was really flattered because this girl is speedy.

Anyway, it's a black shirt with a little funny running guy on the front (a crude stick figure); on the back it says, "Pain is temporary. Kicking your ass is forever." It's their "unofficial" CC team shirts.

I love it! Now I'm thinking it would be fun to give her one with one of our infamous slogans on it, but which one? A lot of our jokes are kind a personal...

Good morning!

Allergies not kicking my butt today, that's good. Tomorrow a.m. will be in the 60's w/ low humidity for my long run, that's good. Family birthday party on Sunday for all the August "babies", that's good. Happy hour tonight after work with co-workers, that's definitely good.

Yea, what is that about?
---------

Crane...cool that you've inspired her to run a 1/2. I'm sure the 30's collective can come up w/ a good joke / quote for a gift back to your student.

4 east on the tmill last night. More tonight.

Weather report...finally got some rain and woke to cooler temps and overcast sky - just in time for the weekend.

So, did you know that eating blueberries (ok, a lot of blueberries) leads to really dark (like black) stools? Too much info? Thought maybe.

Love, love, love the Gypsy Kings. Go, go, go to the concert (even if you don't stay the entire time). You can sleep when you're dead. I'm jealous and want to go, too!

LL...you're talk of tattoos is giving me the itch to either get another one of get mine touched up - looking a bit faded.

Another home repair project in the works today - replacing rotted facia board and rotten cedar planks on front of house. Geez, when will the fun end. Hope it's all done when I get home from work.

Bob...is that the last of your baby classes?

Good morning 30-somethings.

Not much going on today. I have 8 miles with 8x100m strides today. I have to do some grocery shopping, and I have to go to the running store to get some energy gels.

Haven't decided yet, but I think I might go away for the weekend. I have a 20 miler planned for Sunday, and I want to do it somewhere where there are more hills.

I did not want to get out there this morning but I made myself go get that 30 minute off day walk. Not much else going on. The boss and one other employee are not here today. Hmmmm heh. Guess they were smarter than me to take off today. jk

Got up a little before 5. Off to the gym for a quick weight session and then 5 miles recovery. The humidity was lower so it wasn't too bad. I was pretty much on autopilot the entire time, except when I got super hungry at mile 4. argh. I am a bottomless pit right now. No wonder I can't lose any weight.

Maria - wow what a good run. You can do 11 in the time it takes me to do 10 (general aerobic pace of course). I am so jealous.

I am jealous of Korbel too. Those are some good paces you are putting up. I was just saying to DH that I really want to get to a point that I can run 830s on my general aerobic days instead of 920s. Sigh. It'll take me at least a year.

Crane - I too was unaware (or forgot) about this HM. do tell

Great venue for concerts! I was down there in May and caught the John Legend/Corrine Bailey Rae concert. Wish we had a place like that here for concerts!

Great job! Way to press on.

Way to go! Don't forget to log your points, our team really needs it.

Gotta go get ready for the gym. Catch ya all later.
