Anyone have some fun planned today? I know Moonie makes another trip to see our lovely Bard, so that's certainly fun!

Qod: What music do you have in your collection (not necessarily your running tunes) that would surprise people? Either because the song is nearly embarrassing - OR - so far away from your normal interests that people almost wouldn't believe it.

I'll start:

Britney Spears - If you Seek Amy

The Bartman (from the Simpsons)

Buckner & Garcia - Pacman Fever

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting,

Carrie Underwood - Undo It,

Hanson - Mmmbop,

Ke$ha - blah blah blah,

Keith Urban - Hit the Ground Runnin,

Miranda Lambert - Gunpowder & Lead,

Mother's Finest - Piece of the Rock,

Weird Al - Fat,

Yanni - On Sacred Ground.

Yes, I have a Yanni song! /snicker

** editing to clarify: My main musical preferences are top 40 / 80's / Metal. Country is usually not in my choices, but a few (as seen from the above list) songs have caught my attention!

My fun: I may run over and see my niece this afternoon right after work, and then I have to run to the salon to get hairspray and then Sheldon is on tonight so that ends my fun evening.

Beef and snow peas for dinner woot!!

QOD:

My ipod is all country and classic rock/oldies but just for the hell of it I have some Buck Cherry, The Proclaimers and a bunch of movie scores and sound tracks. There's nothing more calming than listening to the score from Forrest Gump.

QOD: Well, I've got anything and everything from the 70s and 80s, so nothing there would surprise anybody. Even the "embarassing" stuff. (Air Supply? Barry Manilow? John Denver? The Carpenters?) As for new stuff, I've mostly got country becuase I think most new pop/rock music sucks. But I also have some bubblegum stuff like Katy Perry and Pink. And I'll reach back before the 70s quite a bit as well. I've got a lot of old Motown (Four Tops, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Supremes), plus the Beatles, Beach Boys, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers... Okay, maybe none of that is too surprising. Well, I've also got Sinatra and Bing Crosby. And some older jazz stuff, like Miles Davis and Coltrane and Monk. And I've also got a small assortment of classical, although I don't listen to it very often. (Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, etc). Is any of that surprising?

As for the stuff that is "embarassing", here are a few songs that I really do enjoy listening to, even though most people would probably say they suck. I guess they just remind me of a specific fun occasion:

New Kids On The Block - Step By Step

Color Me Badd - All For Love

Air Supply - Making Love Out Of Nothing At All

Sheila E - The Glamorous Life

Shania Twain - Man, I Feel Like A Woman

All 4 One - I Swear

Nelson - (Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection

Winger - Seventeen

By the way, I've got at least half of the songs on Ailarie's list...

Oh... Ailarie mentions "running tunes". Umm, I've actually been too lazy to set up a playlist just for running. So I've just got all my songs lumped together on Shuffle. This makes for some interesting segues from one song to another. I might go from Kenny Chesney to Motley Crue to Roberta Flack. That sometimes makes it difficult to keep at a consistent pace...

I do have to work today, but nothing too taxing is on my schedule. I pick Moonie up at about 6:30. We are planning some weekend activities that will offer good photo opps so I'll be posting some next week.

Most people who know me know I have pretty eclectic tastes, so I don't know if I have anything that is too surprising. Maybe the Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Neon Trees, Three Days Grace, etc that is on my iPod.

I love music lists!

Ok, you don't really have to click on this link but if you want to see something kinda cool and nice, do it! Especially if you like LOVE stuff! Friends of ours (both runners) got married a couple of weeks ago here in Cape Breton and this is the video they had made. It's great. If you're in a bad mood, it's gotta put at least a little smile on your face.

morning peeps.

apparently my sleep clock has reset. So even though I stayed up much too late, I woke up at exactly the same time this morning as I did yesterday. 7:08. And I feel rested.

My coworker friend has been grumpy (and unapproachable) for the last two days (actually she might have even been out yesterday, I was in training most of the day.) It's making me feel uncomfortable. Meh.

QOD: I actually own very little music. Weirdest song I listen to often is probably "Not You Stepping Stone" by the Monkees. But I have nearly the whole catalog of Joe Jackson and most of Lyle Lovett and I'm sure that would surprise people.

Ha. Well, like I said, the songs on my list all remind of a specific fun moment. That particular song reminds me of a time a bunch of years ago when I was drinking with a few buddies. That song came on the radio, and one guy (somewhat inebriated) did a very rousing lip-sync performance to the song. It still cracks me up to think about it...

OMG, I forgot to mention:

remember the creepy crawlies discussion yesterday?

well, we have mice from time to time in my house and my landlord sets a few traps here and there. I'd seen some evidence they might be back but hadn't run across any yet. But when I moved my trash pail last night (under the sink) to take out the rubbish...sweet day in morning!!!! EWEWEWEWEWEWEWEWEW!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea when poor Mickey got caught in the trap, but I was completely unable to deal with what I found. I swan, this is the #1 reason why I need a boyfriend: to get rid of rotting mice from under my sink.

(I eventually went upstairs and got my landlord. Once he saw what was under the sink...he told me to step back and not look.)

Glad to read I'm not the only one who can not deal with mice. Ick. Ick. Scream. Ick. My MIL thinks its hilarious. I do not.

So, my fun today might be seeing these guys:

http://www.kingandhiscourt.org/

but, I might run out of time. I'm not quite organized for our trip and we leave tomorrow.

Music - there's not much I won't listen to, and I rarely buy music. I'm a radio/pandora kind of girl. I often take the names you guys mention and add a station on pandora, but then I always end up using the quick mix option and hear a bit of everything. I'm either open minded or lazy, I guess.

Funny that the QOD is music related today...

FUN: Going to see U2 tonight! (Finally. This is the tour that was rescheduled from last summer due to Bono's back surgery.)

FUN: With SauconRunner!
NOT FUN: GoV can't go. He has class tonight.

FUN: I am seeing them again next week! With GoV!

Bob, I have some pretty random music mixes in my Spinning classes. But unlike yours, mine are on purpose! Where else will you hear James Brown followed by Britney Spears followed by Pearl Jam followed by Fatman Scoop followed by U2 followed by Prodigy???

Oh wow! I remember thinking that the Nelson twins were very drool-worthy when I was a teen (they are 5 years older than me.) Now I watch the video and think "Aww.. they were just kids!". My, how time changes things!

Sad: I just took Gus for a walk. When we turned the corner at the cross street 2 houses down, my neighbors were in their back yard with their 13 y/o Australian shepherd. THey had him on a dog bed, laying on his side, and they were petting him and talking to him softly. UG. He has not been doing well at all lately, but this just looked really sad. When we walked past on our way home the whole family was out around him. My guess is he won't be making it through the night.

Funny: I was all verclempt [sniiiiiiiiiiiiiiff] after seeing that scene twice, and at the end of our walk Gus completely dorked out. It's not often he drops all vestiges of dignity like that, and he was just SO freaking funny I couldn't help sitting down in my next door neighbors grass and laughing.
