Morning Katholeenie!!

My first thought is Rodney Dangerfield. I have no idea if that's right, but I thought of him in Caddyshack. ???

Fun today: I only have 3 days left of work as a retail manager. Hopefully, I will never have another and will be safely ensconced in a library somewhere for the rest of my working life.

Not-So-Fun: Heat indices of 110+ today...it's already mid-80's at 7am and the humidity is completely oppressive. Gah.

Ann!!! Hiya Chopsticks when do you move? I know you told us but I forgot to write down the date. I'm so happy for you and super jealous! I've been talking to my local book store owner and trying to get the feeling as to when she's planning on retiring. She know's I'm interested in buying the shop but I don't know what her timeline is or if I'd be able to support a family on what the bookshop brings in.

QOD: What's the creepy crawly animal/bug that sends you over the edge?

For me it's snakes and twice now I've gone in the basement to find this little tiny snake in there cooling down and yesterday I was on the phone with my friend and was going to do some weeding in the front flower bed and there was a huge garter snake in there. I told her I thought I had wet my pants a bit.

POODLE!!!

I move a week from tomorrow. I am soooooo not packed yet, but I'm on the way. And I haven't finished switching/cancelling utilities either, which is just a bore and I'm avoiding it for some weird reason.

Saturday is my last day at work.

QOD: Probably anything that has a prototype of less than two or more than four legs....but especially Palmetto bugs. GACK.

Ann - enjoy your last days! It is going to be supah hot here again soon, but thankfully today and Thursday should be very pleasant! Stay cool and hydrated.

Wippy - yikes on the $4 mil. I bet you are all stressed, but I've got to think they are very very happy to have you helping them. $4 mil sounds like a boatload of money for a smallish company.

KP - nice ink! Very cool that you did it for your dad too.

Amy - have fun playing softball! I haven't played in years either, but it does sound fun.

Moe - hope you sleep better soon. Any way you can negotiate a better office?

QOD: Probably snakes. Although once when I was living in FL I found this mini scorpion thing in my bedroom and that had me freaked out.

Good morning, gals.

QOD: Uh, I don't know. We've had a few mice in our house, and they skeeved me out a bit at first (after I set out traps that caught them and I had to dispose of the carcass). But maybe I've gotten used to them because they didn't seem to bother me as much the last few times. Although, thankfully, it's been a while since we've had them. Maybe we've finally gotten them all out of the house...

Greetings all.

I've no fun to report, I'm afraid. My one good night of sleep on Monday night didn't carry over to last night, unfortunately,. Grr.

However, I am pleased as pie for Ann's upcoming new job/location, KP's new ink, and Amy's drafting into softball again! :)

Qod: Most critters don't bother me. I don't mind spiders, as long as they're outside the house (or I can move them out), unless it's a black widow or brown recluse. I rather am fascinated by snakes. I'm not crazy about mice, but haven't had any in the house in years. Probably the critters that freak me out the most are southern fire ants (OUCH!) and mosquitoes. The latter seem to ignore everyone else in my general area and make a buffet out of my legs/arms.

morning peeps.

I'm heading into an all day training...oy. I came in a bit early to get something done...and haven't. Oh well.

KP, LOVE the new tattoo. Very nice. Left or right arm?

I slept really well last night, and feel much better today. Got home from my meeting (did I mention I'm now a trustee for the historic building our theatre resides in?), took a shower, watched 30 mins of TV and went to bed. Slept from 11:30 til 5:30, looked at the time, and rolled over and slept til 7:10.

QOD: those millipedes that seem to show up in my bathroom periodically. And SPIDERS! I hate spiders. I don't even kill them because I know they are good for the environment, but I have had to back out of rooms, change picnic tables, hopped out of the shower soapy and once screamed bloody murder in my office because of them in the past.

I won't tell you I like rats more than spiders, because rats are big, but really? I hate spiders more. (I mention rats because we have them in the aforementioned historic building from time to time, i.e. often, and I do jump and scream when they run by, but that's mostly because they come out of nowhere. This is also one of the reasons I am now a trustee.)

Hi all - today should be fun, with drinks after work for someone who's leaving (again) this workplace for brighter pastures. More fun will be tomorrow, when I fly out to O-Hi-O (though I get the pleasure of waking up before 4 AM for this trip )

Tonya - hope the martini party is a smashing success

Hope the re-venture back into softball is a fun for you, Amy

Ann - enjoy these countdown days at work; hopefully they won't feel as rushed as the first days when you started

QOD - I'm not too freaked out by crawly things in general, though I do cringe at cockroaches because it usually means unsanitary conditions. I'm more skeeved out by flying things like wasps (like the blue mud dawber that I saw hovering around the doorway to my abode a few days ago.)

fun: I got to sleep in a little becuase I had a dr appt this a.m. (ok so going to the doc ain't exactly fun but it wasn't horrible either). And when I got to work, I found out our weekly staff mtg was canceled.

more fun: one more day til Moonie arrives. It's a short visit this time, but he'll be back in a little over a month for a longer one, so it's OK.

QOD- I really don't like spiders but I try to leave them alone as long as they aren't in my bedroom or bathroom or in my car while driving. So I guess the things that skeeve me out the most are cockroaches and earwigs. Eeeww!

Everytime I see Moon and Bard post one right after the other I think, "Those two are together somewhere...sneaky!" hee hee!

QOD: I really don't like ants. But earwigs gross me right the heck out.

Evelyn finished a full week of daycare and seems to love it! I'm so glad! It makes life a lot easier with one less drop off/pick up each day. And she seems to be learning new words every day now!

Kath - the reference made me think of the scene in Vacation when Clark flips out after Edna dies & the family wants to go home instead of pressing on to Wally World:

"I think you're all fucked in the head. We're ten hours from the fucking fun park and you want to bail out. Well I'll tell you something. This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for fun. I'm gonna have fun and you're gonna have fun. We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgeory to remove our godamn smiles. You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of you're assholes! I gotta be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose. Praise Marty Moose! Holy Shit! "

Kev - love the new ink!! Great colors and very cool symbolism

QOD - I hate creepy crawlies that are also hairy, like those centipedes/millipedes that Maureen mentioned. I'm also not a fan of mice, rats are another story - I see them pretty often and while I wouldn't want to cuddle up with them they don't creep me out like mice

Speaking of mice and rats, we were in Animart a few weeks ago with the boys. Jake pointed out a fridge full of dead mice and rats - from little tiny ones to uncomfortably big ones. They were just stacked in there. It was incredibly disturbing. So if you go into pet stores and see a fridge - walk the OTHER way.

~~~~sleeping vibes for Ailarie~~~~
Glad you're getting some sleep Moe!
That's so exciting Ann! I'm also one to put off cancelling utilities. I'm always afraid they'll shut them off before the date I asked for.
