It worked for me...mind you, it was a very hilly 50km, so although the 'thon was a good base for a flat 50k, I still needed 8 weeks of hill/trail training for this one (but it was very unusual).

Merigayle...great article!

merigayle....thanks for the time and effort it took to work up that 50k plan. The mileage levels fit nicely for me in terms of my usual training. What helps most is having a guide as to the kind of distances to schedule back to back on the weekends. I'll be sticking with the marathon distace this spring, but looking forward to trying out your plan for the fall as a total ultra newbie. Thanks again.

hey there, this is the first time i've used this site. i'm also running rocky racoon and very very nervous. I have slacked in training, with the bad weather, Christmas and I just moved it's been really hard. I'm going to give it a shot and hope I make it See you at the race!! stephanie

Merigayle --I just joined kickrunners so will eventually add to your jan 5 50K thread --but in the meantime, want to congratulate you guys on finishing the team slug 50K --great job to your husband and you for a PR!! Are you getting ready for Rocky Racoon?? So exciting --sounds like your training going well and you are staying positive. I was down at the disneyworld marathon and did the goofy challenge --it was fun but not as satisfying as a longer race --would love to do rocky racoon next year..
anyway, good luck with your last 3 weeks of training!

merigayle, I have a picture of me with that very same sign! isn't that a cool place? I would love to do Badwater but I am afraid I don't have that type of weather to train in! Maybe one day I will do the course but in a better part of the year.

Hi OK I am totally new to this forum but this one definitely caught my attention I was seriously wondering if for the 50 k training plan if I am going to be in trouble if I have been going about double the mileage in any of the given weeks? I will be running the huff 50k which is really a bit longer in indiana on the 19th of dec and i am trying not to mess it up since this will technically be my first longer than a marathon race.
quick background I am 23, and single mom to a beautiful 2 year old named emiko (emi for short) and I definitely not new to running (however not doing my races as a bandit maybe)

welcome! post a thread about Huff, i know some here have run it. as far as your mileage, everyone is different. if your body can handle the higher mileage, then go for it!
