Thanks for starting us Fred. Nice hammering. I haven't had any trouble logging on to the site. dunno what's going on.

Mon. 6 miles

Tues. took a rest day just because and I had early morning and late evening responsibilities

Today. 10 moh. 27 degrees and 25-35 mph N winds bringing us to 13 degrees windchill. That just doesn't happen in CC, TX.

I haven't run in those kind of temps in about 8-9 years. Barely have clothing to run in it. Tomorrow will go again and suppose to be a few degrees cooler. Racing a 10k Saturday a bit further S. and expect temps no higher than 40 at the start. Should be perfect if it's not too windy.

carry on.

I'm reading a book on neuroplasticity and the first thing I thought about was how can I use

this to improve my fitness. If I was just a basketball player, I would tie my dominant arm to

my side and use my other arm for 24 hours.

Good to see Econo in here even if she isn't old enough! Best to Ben!

So nobody got to wish Fred a happy birthday because he couldn't post the new thread. Bummer.

I'm up north and working on hotel ellipticals. It's icy out there, but the real reason is that I have a bit of soreness in my right achilles/lower calf. I think it's from a pair of shoes I was wearing that gave me this problem once before. Must remember to give them away.

So I will go from 221 miles in January to kicking off February with about a 30 mile week. Probably a good thing though. Spareribs

27 degrees and 16 wind chill this morning and 6 ez miles. The state of TX had rolling planned blackouts yesterday and supposed to have them today and tomorrow as well. They only last 20 mins or a bit longer. Using more electricity than producing. Seems to me we shouldn't save that much because once electricity is back on; we'll all reheat our houses from a colder starting point. Won't be long before we're a third world country. Anyway the schools are closed because of it and gov't offices closed in our area. Suppose to get some ice this afternoon thru tomorrow morning. It will shut the city down as few have ever driven in anything like this.

Econo - you may be joking a bit but probably not a bad idea in the future if he doesn't respond as well as you'd like.

Happy belated birthday Fred.

ez couple miles tomorrow and then off to run a big 10K in Edinburg TX. Forecast for them Saturday morning is 30 degrees and they're not too far from the Mexican border. They'll be frozen stiff down there. :)

Cake's still fresh, even if two days late!

I was having difficulty with the net on my laptop yesterday, but not my home 'puter.
Go figure.

Got out for a nice 5.7 miles in the snow yesterday. Will run a few after work, outdoors if the streets aren't to treacherous.

12 mile slog to the top of the Oak Ridges Morraine and back down. Harder than it should have been, but it's done. This is the point where I look at the 50K training schedule I've got laid out for the next 4 months and wonder how I'm ever going to be able to do that much more distance. And still have a life, that is.

Morning all.

Saturday my wife and I both won sr. masters division of All American 10k in Edinburg, TX Plus we both fiished around 6th oa masters; so it was a good day. Free hotel, dinner, and we both won $100 for our division. Temp 40 degrees at start and finished only last 2 miles against the wind. Perfect day.

Sunday - rest

Today. 11.3 miles with 3 X 2.5 mile intervals with .5 recoveries. Goal was marathon pace.

Got to watch 2nd half of football game last night after church. Tried to watch the half time show but just couldn't stand it. Switched the channel until game came back on. I guess I'm getting too old or it was better live than on tv.

Nice going KS! And a hotel room and some loot besides. You rock!

This week all I will do is slowly nurse this ankle/achilles thing back to normal. Yesterday was 4 as slow as I could go and today was just 2 slow and a good flexibility workout. This thing all came about because of a pair of loafers I was wearing for a couple of days. I only remembered they caused this last time I had this problem after this happened this time. I will give them away I think. Darn! Spareribs

I can see why wearing a couple of slackers would wear on your achilles, Ribs! Kick those bums out or make them get a job.
