Easy does it there, Fred. You're right in that we just don't bounce back as quickly as we get older. It sucks, but it is what it is. Hope your knee continues to improve.

KS, I agree your mileage and training has been really good. But then, it seems like it always is. You're very consistent and strong in your MOH's. I think you're going to have a great race!

Simon, I'm just getting over the cold from hell. Just knocked me down something terrible and I went almost a week without running because of chest congestion. Still coughing a bit but much better. My DH got it and is on the mend, and my 16 year-old son came down with it this weekend. He's blaming me for ruining his jr prom. I hope his youth helps him shake it soon. Good for you on taking it easy while you recover.

Finished up a good week last week, going on a 12 day streak so far. Wheee! That's a lot for me. Will continue today, too, with an easy RAW. My miles were up a bit (55... less than a taper week for John!) but my average pace was down to 8:13, the fastest average I've seen in awhile. Will need to be sure to run easy and recovery this week. We'll see how that works...

Love to watch that guy run though. Will be interesting to see how he does this year.

Had some good running this week, and workouts at the gym. But my legs are tired so DH and I just did a walk around campus today at lunchtime. I might run a bit tonight on the treadmill, but might not and call it a rest day. I guess it is anyway... 5k race in the morning, but it's really hilly and still very icy out there. We walked part of the course today, and I'm sure they'll have to re-route part of it or there will be falls. I'll do some before and after for 9 or so for the day. 18 is the plan on Sunday.

That's an amazing time (to me) for a 5k, much less the last 5k of a marathon! Wow, incredible.

My 5k was not quite so impressive, but I did get a first in my AG so that's cool. Ok, so it's not a very competitive age group, but still. I ran 23 minutes pretty much on the nose, started out a little behind the pack because I was late getting back from my (shortened) warm up. Oh well, it's all good. They did re-route the course and that added a little bit more hilly stuff, and there was still some ice so I'm happy with it. Had a nice 6 mile run afterwards with the last half all under 8's.

Today was 18 miles, and I was bored with my old route that I've been doing because everything else is so icy. Had DH drop me off in the valley north of us, and I ran along the road that more or less parallels the road I normally run on, just following the next ridge of hills. I forgot how damn hilly that road was! Still, after the fast hard run(s) yesterday, I was happy with how I did on the hills, just taking a couple breaks here and there to catch my breath and text DH to let him know how I was doing. 18 miles @ 8:09 avg pace, capping a 56 mile week. Next week should be a little more than that, with a 20 miler next Sunday. I think I'll find something a little less hilly for that one.
