Not fun: Being back at work. I feel like I need a vacation day to recover from the weekend. Most of it was hurry-up-and-get-errands-done, and outside yard work, but I did end up going to a neighbor's birthday party Saturday. Ended up staying until midnight. I. Am. Too. Old. To. Do. That. When. I've. Been. Up. Since. 5:30am!

Had fun though, met some cool peeps... so it's all good. I just need a LONG nap. :)

Hope everyone else had a great weekend and holiday!

Wickedly fast weekend here. And this week is jam packed with pre-vacation to-dos and kid activities. We're leaving Friday to drive to Myrtle Beach for a week with Dh's family. Hopefully 14 hours in the car will be long enough for me to decompress and prepare to enjoy the beach :)

And welcome to my world. Up til 3:30 Fri night, up at 7:30 Sat morning (although I snuck in a little more sleep after I took Penny out), out til midnight Sat night, up at 8 Sun morning, up til midnight Sun night, up at 8 yday morning...actually started falling asleep on the couch at 9:30, so I roused myself, took a shower and was asleep by 10:30. However, I woke up 4 times overnight. GRRRRRRRRR.....

I had a really nice weekend, went to see my parents at the house the rented at the beach in New Hampshire. Got in my first ocean swim of the season! Yey!!!!! I love the beach in NH, because there are awesome waves and tons of beach and cool tidal pools. Yes, the water is very cold, but I'm used to it and I'm tough. ;)

My mom wasn't having a great day and it hit me again that she's losing her battle, but I was happy to spend some time with her.

My friend and I stopped for fried clams and lobster rolls on the way home. Yum! (I also got some last night, at a place near my house...shared them with another friend, who could.not.stop.eating.them. Too funny.)

Also, hung out with my sister yesterday!!!! yay!!!! I missed her and the kids so much while she's been in Cali. My BiL is still there but will be back in Mass in a few weeks.

Took Miss P up to the ball field this morning to play fetch. She was funny, running after the ball, then dropping down and rolling on the grass because it was cool. Goofy dog.

Claratin is your friend! (go for generic brand, of course - same active ingredient, not even 1/2 the price)

1. I'm sorry to hear that your mom wasn't having the best day, but happy you were able to spend some quality time, regardless.

2. Yah for seeing sis and the kidlets.

3. Sometimes dogs have the best ideas. As humans, we wouldn't dare drop and roll on the grass because it feels good Others would probably threaten to put us in a mental hospital! Dogs enjoy and live in the moment. Sometimes I think they're actually a smarter species than we give them credit for! :)

Morning, all. I relaxed a little too much over the weekend, and I'm having trouble motivating myself out the door this morning. But I will. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen for meh results, but I'll get better at it. I'm just going to have to get used to the fact that the food I need to eat from here on out will not taste like fat and sugar because there is less fat and sugar in it. I also need to learn how to cook rice better. It was underdone and a little crunchy. Still, not bad. Unfortunately, I have a sink full of dishes which will require my attention this evening.

Prae, I always boil the water, add the rice, cover it, let it come back to a boil...and turn it off. I leave it for about 30 mins.

I was wiped out and falling asleep in the chair at 8:30 last night, in bed before 9. Nice!

Not Fun: I'm still sick. I've had a cold for over 2 weeks now. Gunky head and chest, plugged ears, sore throat. How long do I let this go on before I head to see my doc, anyway? Ugh. So tired of it.

Morning all! Spent a ridiculous amount of time, all pure enjoyment, playing with the new kittens up at J's brother & sis-in-laws. They are about 7 weeks old or so and are named Bronx (the boy, more orange in color) and Brooklyn (the girl, a mini-Dillon!). A few pictures that I also posted on FB

I need to detox. Got back from Napa yesterday afternoon- between Fri afternoon when we landed and Sun evening we had 69 different wines (mostly just tastes, but still). Good to be away from the kiddos even though I missed them. Had dinner Sun night at French Laundry which was amazing but outrageous.

Amichel- have fun in Myrtle! I haven't been there in ages...fun place! Moe- yea for your sis returning and spending QT with your mom.

The closest Trader Joe's is 2 hours away. Thus, I must learn to make rice the old fashioned way. I think my downfall was not having a lid that fit the pot. Too much steam escaped and didn't cook the rice.

Prae- I have a microwave rice cooker from Pampered Chef that I like but I suppose a regular one is good as well. I didn't like cooking rice on the stove because I couldn't get it to come out either.

Two weeks ago, the weather was cold and miserable as early March. Today, it is hot and muggy like late July. The only sign of spring was the series of t-storms in the interim. Blah.
