Good morning all! And thanks for all the good luck wishes... once again, RTB did not disappoint! I'll get a full recap worked up but I ended up with about 26 miles (run in less than a 24 hr period) and our team finished in 27:44:22 (8:16/mi pace) in 36th place (out of 150)!! Good times! My legs esp my quads were a bit sore so I got out this morning for a run to loosen 'em up... kept it short w/4.75 mi and 3 x 90 secs hill sprints.

Tonya - hope the knee feels better and you can get out to bike

Great job to everyone racing this past weekend, winning races and age groups and logging the miles!!!

Uggg, Tonya, hope the knee feels better.

Maria - so glad you guys had a blast. 36th place out of 150 is awesome!!! Congrats!

Bob - How's 40?

I got 6.2 very easy paced miles in this morning. Big mileage week on tap. Tomorrow's speed workout has me scared: 6 x 1 mile intervals. Youch!

Heal up fast, Tonya.

Maria, congrats on your team's great performance! Sounds like it was a good time!

Have fun with the big mileage week, RFTL. And yeah, 6x1 mile sounds tough...

As for me... 40? Meh, so far so good. I certainly can't complain about the way the weekend went. Two AG awards in two days is pretty cool. I know I'm neither the fastest nor the slowest guy around, and I will never take an AG award for granted. In all my experiences so far, I always found that the M40s groups were more competitive than the M30s groups. So I was really hoping for that award on Saturday becuase I figured it might be the last one I win for a long time. But then to get a 40s AG awrad on the very first day of my 40s was pretty sweet. I suppose maybe I just got lucky that all the fast M40s stayed home. But I'll take it. And who knows, maybe I can get lucky again every now and then, so maybe I won't have to wait until I'm 50 or 60 for my next AG award...

I dunno what I'll do today. Thunderstorms are coming this afternoon, so I think I won't run outside. I packed for the gym, and maybe I'll get in a short run there. Or maybe I'll take the whole day off. Sooner or later I gotta get back into the marathon training thing. I suppose I should finally sign up for a marathon somewhere (Logan Utah, I guess) to give me something to officially shoot for...

This morning I decided I'm a nut job. Ok, not a news flash, but... Today's realization is that as much as I found having a detailed training plan suffocating, I hate not having a plan too. Time to find the goldilocks training plan :)

Congrats to all the runners and racers from the weekend! Always fun to catch up on the weekend news!

Greetings, all,

I have bi/tri work on tap today. Everything else that's normally on today's schedule, I got out of the way yesterday. including a new form of bicep / back workout - moving firewood! I realized that with the hot temps, my firewood pile (Which Pippin is always trying to climb on to see the goats) would be a prime hiding place for a snake. Last week, the news talked about a lady being bitten by a copperhead, so that was enough to make me want the woodpile out of the fenced area.

The plan was to take each piece of wood, toss it over the fence line, and when all that was done, to drag the wood holder / landscape timbers on the other side about 15 feet away, and reassemble/restack the whole thing. I now know that I have 326 pieces of firewood. Ugh. I got the thing about 85% rebuilt yesterday when the heat got to be too much. I'll probably finish moving the rest of the stuff (and the remaining 30-ish pieces of firewood elsewhere that i forgot about) this evening. Meh!

morning

I had an ok weekend of fitness. Saturday was rough due to an open bar at the wedding the night prior. I got in 6 miles at about 6 p.m. Yesterday I did 16 at 941 pace and it felt pretty darn good. I also finished just before the first batch of storms rolled through. Happy to report no damage at my house from the tornados or hail. It has been a crazy spring storm season so far. Lifted last night.

This morning, I woke up later than I wanted to, did L2 of the shred and ran a quick mile. Running 6-8 after work.

Maria - great job! That is an awesome overall pace!

Bob - I don't think I've ever gotten an AG let alone 2 in a weekend! rock it brother!

This made me laaaaugh!

My TCM training plan starts a week from today. gulp. I'm out of running shape. I did a 90 minute yoga class on Friday night and one hour of pilates on Satruday but that's it for my weekend fitness. Unless you count rug shampooing. I think I do. My arms and hands are sore-ish. But I need to get out and run more. Likely won't start today. :( Too much on the agenda already. carp.

Was able to catch up on the threads a bit...

Congratulations on last weekend’s races (and winners!)… Cindi, Ailarie, boB, Amy, Jillian (and for being CUTEST!), Tim (and Wade, of course)

Our RTB is very proud of the finish and would have finished higher had our guy, Baker, been able to make the trip - dude is about the size and speed of Mighty Mouse (no joke) but unfortunately had to drop out the morning we were planning to leave. His father was admitted to John Hopkins the night before and he needed to get down there; good thing he did b/c his father didn't make it through the weekend. We got his RTB shirt and medal and are coming up with a little something more to help him in a way sucky time.

Nice long run, Brandy! That's a strong pace.

I always feel pretty good about my fitnessing until I come here and read everything you guys are doing. Now I just feel like a slacker. Anyway, the weekend consisted of a 30-mile bike ride, almost 10-mile run (about 9.7 or 9.75), and intervals in the pool totalling 2,000 yards. I had to get a sub for my outdoor boot camp this morning in order to get to my dentist appointment on time. Coach says I have a swim later (more intervals!), but it's supposed to storm here again so I may not be able to go. There's a stooopid law here that prevents you from swimming INSIDE when there's thunder. (Really?)

Oh, I forgot. Our scale is probably NOT working properly, but if it is (and it's a big if) I've lost 10 pounds!!!! We're going to replace the battery, at which time I will probably be very disappointed because my true weight will register and undoubtedly be higher than the number I saw this morning. But until then I'm happy.

forgot to mention that there was no fitnessing for me over the weekend. AK woke up at 5 on sat and 4:15 sun so.... yeah. taking naps became a priority during the down time. heh.

i'm hoping to sign up for the fairfield half mary this week - i want to test my knee this week a bit. it feels more stiff and arthriticky now then tweaky and painful like it was before. not sure what is going on but if it doesn't improve, we all know what the cure is. ack. i'd happily miss a half marathon in order to start marathon training healthy. we shall see.
