Why do you run?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">I run to get away from my kids! Seriously, I always did a lot of walking. I didn’t drive until I was in my 30’s. A few years ago, I heard about an April HM and thought I could do that. I’d walk it. Then, thought I’d walk/run it. Eventually, I decided to run the whole thing. And I did!!! After that, I was hooked.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
2. What is your greatest accomplishment?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Finishing any first.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
3. What is your motto/theme song?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Seriously, I’m all about having fun!</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
4. How do you deal with bad runs?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Ah, well. Miles in the bank. Finishing out a bad run—where things just aren’t falling into place, not when I’m injured—gives me the strength to finish out a tough race because I’ve been there before.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
5. Do you reward yourself for good runs? How?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Not really. But, I can afford to snack more than I could otherwise.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
6. Who do you admire most?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">My Grandma. When I started bicycling in high school, I rode with her group of friends. She continued riding with this group into her 80’s. She also swam and ran into her 70’s. She’s 92yo now. A couple weeks ago we were talking about the 10K’s that she raced. She laughed, saying that she usually finished either last or next to last. But, she always finished! You can still see the pride in her eyes, 20 years later.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
7. What is the greatest advice you have ever received?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Tucson Marathon this past year, and my race just wasn’t going well. I had started out way too fast. I had bronchitis and couldn’t breathe. This was supposed to be my BQ race. I was not a happy camper! I ended up running with a guy—Rick from</span></span> <span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">California</span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">. He asked me if I was going to BQ. Nope. PR? Nope. Then why not just enjoy the rest of the race? This has totally changed my perspective!</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>

Tights and long sleeve tech shirt in the winter. Love my neon yellow windbreaker. Makes me a moving target for cars! Favorite outfit has to be what I wore for</span></span> <span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Tucson</span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">—hot pink skort, hot pink and orange sleeveless top. I was supposed to meet up with another KR at the start. I told him to look for the hot pink skort. 12. What has been your favorite race?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Columbus Marathon ’05, because it was my first. Tucson Marathon ’05, because I beat my sister by 35mins. Athens Marathon ’07, because it was a pretty route. Towpath HM ’07, because it was pretty. Deer Creek Sept ’07, because it was my first tri and I got 2nd in my AG.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
13. Do you have a goal race right now?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Athens Marathon, because it’s my next race. Hoping to BQ. Then, I have a race about every month the rest of the season.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
14. What makes you happy?</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">Sharing my love of running and bicycling with my kids. My oldest son does long bicycle tours with me. The others do ‘ice cream rides’ (32miles with an ice cream break) with me. My oldest son also runs and has beaten me two out of the three times we raced. My youngest son should be ready for his first 5K later this season.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
15. Tell us one interesting thing about you that you haven't said (at least not often) on this forum in the past.</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'Comic Sans MS';">I’m home schooling our kids (15, 13, 11, and 9). It gives us a lot of freedom and flexibility. I also have a therapy dog and we visit nursing homes and libraries. Guess that’s two things…</span></span><br><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:Verdana;"><br>
