This is the 40x40 thread for those who run at least 40 miles per week and are over 40. This is a great motivational thread and free passes are given out generously. If you do run a race and post a RR, I'll try to link it in here.

Little tardy here - didn't get on the internet while in Juneau.

Got back home late last evening after a great vacation of running, hiking, kayaking, beer drinking and food eating. Well, plus a few other things too.

Last weeks total: 64.4 miles including the Frank Maier Marathon in 3:37:48. (official times have not been posted yet). Looks like I was 4th male master and 10th overall out of a field of about 45. Beautiful running weather, breath taking scenery (views of a glacier and lots of mountains), good running company and a great BBQ afterwards with lots of food.

This week is a recovery week

Mon: 7.0 miles at a nice easy pace, some hills, legs tired but no soreness. 4 hrs of kayaking (approx 8 miles) was within 200 yards of 8-9 humpback whales while they were bubble net fishing. awesome creatures when your at water level with them. Takes on a whole new meaning..

Tues: 7.0 miles slightly faster pace than yeasterday along the same route (through town and along the water). 5 hrs hiking along the Mendenhall glacier and above Juneau.

Wed: 5.0 miles at a nice relaxed pace. flew home.

Thurs: 7.0 miles at an aerobic pace. legs felt like lead after a couple of miles.

Fri: 8-9 miles - 9.0 recovery miles, slow and easy

Sat: 5-7 miles - 9.0 miles still at a recovery pace but, just a little faster than yesterday.

Sun: 13-15 miles - 14.0 miles, progession run, starting off slow and with each mile faster than the last one finishing at an aerobic effort.

Total: 58 miles

Thanks for the call-out, Dennis. Last week I had to reduce miles because of some intense racing at the end of the week.

But this week I'm back in the game, woohoo! (fist bump)

Mon: 3

Tue: 6.07 trails

Wed: 7.5 wood chip path

Thu: 4 at track, at snail's pace (very tired)

Fri: 7.94 including 8x400 at the track and a wood chip path run with EV later on.

Sat: rest, chores

Sun: 17

Total....45.5!

40.5 miles. My scheduled 10 miler went to heck when I gu'd at mile 6. I had instant stomach cramps and had to stop. Don't normally use the stuff, but I will gu once or twice during a half marathon, so I was trying to begin simulating the half marathon.
