This is the 40x40 thread for those who run at least 40 miles per week and are over 40. This is a great motivational thread and free passes are given out generously. If you do run a race and post a RR, I'll try to link it in here.

Thanks Dennis. I don't expect any PRs this week (for a change). Though you never know...

Hmm, I may need to ask for a pass this week. The leg really isn't feeling right. I'm going to take a couple days off from running, see what happens.

Thanks Dennis,

I did update last weeks 40/40 thread (58.5 miles total)

This week is recovery for the Poulsbo, Wa Marathon.

Mon: 4 miles - 3.5 miles to stretch out the legs. legs felt good after the first mile. no soreness, just some tightness.

Tues: 6 miles - 6.0 miles mostly slow but 5 x 30 sec @ 7:30 pace to stretch out the legs some.

Wed: 7 miles - 7.0 miles including 2 miles @ 8:00 m/m pace. legs feeling better, but still a little tight.

Thurs: 6 miles - 6.0 miles slow recovery pace

Fri: 5 miles - 6.0 miles slow recovery pace with a couple of pickups to 7:30 pace

Sat: 4 miles - 4.0 miles slow recovery pace

Sun: 26.2 miles (Poulsbo Marathon, long run pace) 26.2 miles lots of hills though about the same gain/loss as my 20 milers, kept my pace as a long run. This was a strange marathon for me: 1) about 3/4 of a mile into the race a guy just infront of me, his knees buckling, drops to his knees as I come up along side then does a face plant, I was able to at least slow his impact some, his wife was right behind him too and several other runnners whipped out cell phones to call 911 (found out after the race he was ok). 2) about mile 3.5 I got a pain behind my left knee, stopped to stretch it out, continued to run with said pain, after a couple of miles the pain dulled and it never did effect my gant. 3) about mile 7.5 coming off a wooden bridge (wet), I took a nice slip and landed on my right hip, looked down, no blood, no torn shorts, got up and started to run again, was surprised no pain. finished 3:43:01, overall 7 of 37, age group 50-59: 1/?

nice day overall..

40 miles this week.

Don't have plans to run this in 2011. It's a great course, but I've had no desire to train to run another marathon.
Maybe someday the desire will return?
