I'm all for the 40/40 thread also. It was motivating and led to a successful 2007 for me. Had it not been for the 40/40 thread, I would have never posted on CR, nor came over to KR. I've just noticed that some KR runners exceed 40, but dont post in the thread. And I've also noticed that the 40/40 is more active over at RA. So I wondered - if it was needed?

I just kind of feel unqualified as a initiator of the thread. I don't have near the talent nor ability of others in the thread. But as long as Dr Wu needs a break, I can fill in. I just lack his wit / creativity, and my knowledge of training strategies is elementary compared to some of these boomers.

Paul & Tim - seriously, good luck this weekend. I hope you both have satisfying marathons.

Just stumbled into this forum/thread. I'm assuming this is over 40 years, and over 40 miles. If so, I'm in....

This week so far....
...M 5.17 recovery (8:28 )
...T 7.93 (40 min tempo 6:53 )
...W 8.10 easy (7:47 ) w strides
...T 11.87 easy (7:45 )

Plan
...F 9 easy with 4 at half marathon goal pace (6:40)
...S 10 easy
...S 20 long/easy with 10 at marathon pace (7:06)

72 for the week

Training for Edinburgh marathon, May 25th. This is my "let's-see-what-happens-if-you-run-higher-mileage-in-training" marathon plan! Loosely modeled on Pftiz but I would emphasise the word loosely.....
