Thanks. I feel a little sore today, so I'll take it easy at the gym tonight.

By the way, Tim, it's really impressive to PR like that so soon after a 50k. Wow!

thanks Bob! My legs are feeling strangely strong, so I just keep throwing races at them. I will taper properly for Flying Pig though.

Here's a link that I hope you can see. It's my garmin route from the race. It's interesting because you can see the exact shape of the Talladega SuperSpeedway. Fun race. I went with about 10 people that I train with and I think there were 6 PRs and 3 AG group awards collected. Plus many beers drank too. :)

Yes, great work BoB and Tim. You are both very impressive.

Rest day for me too. Which is a good thing - my legs are a big heavy/tight after yesterday's 21 miler. I am going to back off the miles a little bit this week since I am running my last tune-up 10K on Saturday, but I am still hoping to be in the 60mpw range which is still quite hefty (for me).

5 damp miles this morning. Second wet run in a row, but at least today's was in shorts and the temps this week are supposed to be close to normal.

Hooray for the PRs and other great workouts this weekend!

I got a schedule change from little miss evil late yesterday, so I did Yoga this morning. Workouts with her will be Tuesday and Friday, and I have 22-26 miles planned for the week. J is out of town, so I don't have a definite schedule of when I will run. She should be back in time for the long run this weekend though.

Greetings, all.

Yesterday's planned 10 was cut short to 9.4. A vehicle was plodding along way too slow (with many stops/pauses) in my 7-house subdivision (on a .55 mile stretch) yesterday, and my gut told me to forget about the last little bit and to get back to safety instead of being in the desolate areas just to finish up 6 blocks' worth. No biggie. I also did tri work for the first time in 2 weeks. Good thing. Muscle definition is fading. Bi/core work to be done later today at some point.

Rawr Tim and Bob! Sweet job, indeed!

yeah, that section is on the campground road in the infield. The course is really cool. Everyone assumes that you just do laps around the 2.66 mile track and that's not the case at all. You literally run the entire facility. You start going down the pit road, and then the apron of Turns 1 & 2, then down the back stretch, then through the wall and up onto the service road above turns 3 & 4, then you go out the center of the parking lot, around the campground, back to the track on the main road, up the entrance boulevard and then up under the front stretch stands, around the service road on the top of turns 3 & 4, under the back stretch stands, then down around the bottom of turns one and 2 on a golf cart path, then turn left and go through the turnnel under the track, that pops you up in the infield, where you run that road all the way back to turn one, then it's turn 1 & 2, down the back straight into turns 3 & 4 before the finish line just at the end of the tri - oval. You do run every bit of the race car track plus all of that other stuff, and at times, you have runners on your right and left sperated by fences. It's really fun!

Great blog post Maria! don't worry, everyone of us goes through periods of lack of mojo. It's like wandering around in the wilderness wondering if you'll ever be motivated again. Don't worry, everything cycles back around.

Great job, you guys! My goal is to run on a NASCAR track someday! That race would have been super cool!

10k run on saturday followed by a night out with the girls. So I took sunday off. Back at it this morning with a 5k with Evelyn in the stroller. It's a gorgeous day out there but they're calling for nasty weather tonight. I may just run again after supper just to take advantage of the nice stuff!

Hey all -

I haven't been around much lately as a result of two things. First, I'm still at 0 miles for 2011 and second, this new job is still kicking my butt.

I think I can solve the second problem by posting in the evenings after I get out of work. It's not as much fun as participating in real time, but better than nothing.

As to the first issue, I sprained my ankle during the first week of December - or so I thought. Four months later it still hasn't healed. I can walk without any issues but anything beyond that - running, jumping, cutting, twisting or excess pressure and the pain increases exponentially. My being a fat slob probably hasn't helped the healing process much either. So, seeing that wishful thinking is no longer working for my ankle, I've decided to break my long-standing rule of never going to the doctor and having a sports doc take a look at it later this month. I fear the worst but at least I'll have some answers. Not to mention that not running is much worse than any potential surgery, rehab or combo thereof could ever be.

So, I'll apologize again for not being around at all recently. I've followed the thread for the most part over the past year or so, but when I'm not running my participation here drops dramatically. In addition to catching up here, I also have about 18-24 months of running magazines and podcasts to sift through too. So yeah, I have some catching up to do.

I hope to see you all around soon. Good runs to all.
