I've got nuthin' this morning. First step out of bed was rather uncomfortable, so I finally removed the bandage and looked at my foot. Looks like I've been shot by a b-b gun. Heh. And it's a bit swollen. pffththt. So I'm taking the day off.

hi Kath! Uggggg. Take care of your foot!

Rest day from running for me. Meant to do pilates before work, but the body was feeling old and creaky so I couldn't make myself do it. Might do some biking at the gym later.

morning ladies!

I finally got my new laptop up and running, so I wrote out a race report on my blog for the 7 Mile Bridge Run. It really was a truly unique race experience!

Since I missed yoga on Tuesday, I'm running after work today and then hitting the yoga studio for 90 minutes of hot, sweaty, bliss.

Oh, I'm really thinking about making this my next marathon (after my ultra). Anyone want to join me in Utah in mid-September? Check out this elevation profile:

Bob, really? Be weary because once you start, it's all downhill from there........

Nothing for me today. Last night I donated red blood cells and am taking it easy. I have an hour on the stationary bike on tap tomorrow.

Your map made me curious as to my 10k route's elevation. Overall it doesn't deviate but a little over a hundred feet. It felt like more than that when I ran it though. It is a wierd route as we immediately run down a steep street turn a few blocks then go back up a hill that is higher than the beginning elevation. A few dips here and there. Several locals tried to warn me about two of those hills but I honestly did not have any trouble. Here is a peek:

Howdy, all.

I'll have anywhere from 3-5M on the TM to do tonight after work.

I've been watching videos of the spartan race this morning. I'm getting very psyched about doing it on the 30th of this month. The only things that concern me are whether there are water hazards (and my fear of going underwater) and hopefully not getting my feet taken out from under me by the finish line gladiators. Those folks are brutal! I'm thinking just charging one of the guys, and grabbing the fugel stick so it at least limits the angle that I can get popped with (though if the gladiator is big, he'll toss me around like a rag doll. As plan b, I can always charge him and jump up as if I were expecting him to catch me. Either he'll drop his stick out of surprise, or I'll land flat on my a$$, and maybe he'll have pity on me after that. :)

(My friend who I conned into doing the event is not at all pleased with the gladiator / fugel stick thing, so I'm trying to sacrifice myself so she can get through relatively unscathed).

Fun fun.

Morning all. I walked the indoor track and then worked out with little miss evil this morning. I've had a fairly tough week of workouts and my body is quite pleased with the planned rest day coming tomorrow. 8-9 on tap for Saturday.

boB - are you going to wear wheelie running shoes? :)

No run for me yesterday. I've caught my wife's head cold. Nothing like being sick when you're on a biz trip. I fly outa here @ 2:50 this afternoon.

Morning all! I've hit another bump and have been unmotivated since returning from St. Louis on Monday. I was just tired at first but have been getting so damn worked at the office that I'm useless once I finally get home. Time to VTFU and get my carcass out in the morning, it's really the only way. I feel like a broken record saying this.

Although today I did bring my running goods w/me and plan to run home from the office.

Tonya - sorry your run blew yesterday, hope the next one is a good one

KP - sweet on the 25K registration, what's the course like?

Lora - loved your RR, what a unique race and such beautiful scenery!

Not a bad idea! You think they'd disqualify me if I do that and finish in like an hour and a half?

boB - I like the sounds of that race and if I weren't already registered for a fall marathon, might seriously consider it. I really, really need to find me a good race that is somewhere near a National Park - J is itching to get out to one again and do some exploring.

Bob - that looks fun - although no doubt very painful. I would think the PR would be worth it though.

Feel better soon Tim and Kath.

Ailarie - that sounds fun! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I ran just over 8. Oooff, I had a couple glasses of wine with my neighbors last night though and I am feeling it today. I am a total lightweight these days. Speaking of lightweight - I am also down 2 more lbs. Woot! Hopefully it is not a fluke. I'd be supah happy if I could get down just a couple more come race day.

It doesn't get much closer to a National Park than this.

Generally gets rave reviews, but also considered a very tough course where you throw out your finishing time and just say you ran it.

That's not too bad, the scale makes it look much worse than the 1% downhill grade that it really is. It's probably a really comfortable run!

5k walking uphill on the TM last night. Plus ice and vitamin I. I'm in full-on reduce the swelling in the ankle phase now until Monday. Oh, and weather is looking great for Boston!
Shares a significant portion of the Grand Rapids Marathon course, only in reverse. Mostly flat with a few small rolling hills.
