It's time for another weekend thread.

I'm getting my wake up juice, and trying to get my head wrapped around Korbels' mantra of 5k pain embrace. I really can't ask for better weather round here in July to run, temp is 57.6 degrees according to my thermometer.

I need to keep an eye and ear out for Beaker who may be there. Keep your eyes peeled, Lori, I'll be running so hard and so fast I'll be hard to see.

Good luck, good runs to all.

Gah.
I admit I'm not much for 'sleeping in' but I sure would like to see 6-something be the first time the puppy wakes me up.

Don't have much on the books today, a run at some point and some house work, maybe some yard work need to be done. BUT it's only supposed to be 80 something degrees out, and that's remarkable for NC in July, so I'm feeling like I should GET OUT.

First cup of "wake-up juice" maybe I'll be more creative after that.

Good Luck to You Scratch, anyone else racing? LL Raceberg?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANDY!!!!
ccasion5: ccasion4:

Reporting live from T1:
Did a short sunrise ride with some friends on the new trail near my house and have already registered for the 5k. I came back home to drop the bike off so this is a post during a very long transition! It was almost COLD this morning - cold for the bike but perfect for running. I'll let you know how it goes!

Have a good day all - good luck to Scratch and the other racers!

Heading out for my long run (10-12 miles) at a new route for me up at the "river" in town. I'm going to bring my camera, but the batteries are nearly dead. It's a downright frigid 75* here right now, albeit with dew points in the 60s.

Good luck to Scratch on the 5K!!

More later...

Morning gang.

Good luck today Matt and Chris. I think Tom is racing this weekend too so good luck to him as well.

Nope, Jen I'm not racing today. The next races I have planned are Teri's Run (which is bug local 5K) and the Philadelphia Distance Run in September. I may sneak another 5K in there somewhere but not likely. I want to keep to my marathon training schedule.

Happy Birthday Mandy!

Had a nice quick 4 mile run yesterday. It was surprisingly humid still. Today it seems to have finally cooled. No run planned for today. Either elliptical or maybe rest and longish run tomorrow.

Looks like it's going to be spectacular day today. Thinking we'll take the kids to the lake and picnic.

Kids go to Nana's tonight! DW and I still haven't even decided what we'll be doing.

Have a great weekend all!

Good morning folks.

Figured I'd better get a 'hello" in, before we were up to 2037205370234 pages!

Best of luck to our weekend racers!

Roo - Happy birthday, woman!

That's all I've got for now. Time to find some breakfast!

This morning was the best morning run all summer!!! I wish it was a really long run day that's now nice it was... why is it that my 18+ mile long run days always fall on days when it's hot and humid. Anyway, I was up and out the door at 5:30 AM. I managed 11.5 miles (right in line with the 10-12 I was planning ). I averaged an 8:04 min/mile. It felt so nice, I was able to relax, think, and I wasn't a slave to the Garmin.

Often I find myself checking the Garmin every mile... how did that mile feel, did I push to hard, not hard enough, how far until the next mile... etc... etc... today I didn't even look down at my Garmin until mile 8. I just ran by feel. Most of my miles were around 7:55 pace, my first mile was at 8:50 (shaking the cobb webs out).

Anywhoo... I filled in some holes that Jaeger dug in the playground area, and I'm off to get "play ground mulch" when my neighbor calls me (he has a trailer for such an occaision). It's nice to have good neighbors, we've always been lucky/blessed that way!

After mulch... I need to mow/trim and go by the store, and see about a DVD player for the mini van - vacation looms... and as much as I hate to be the parent who distracts their child with TV... I'm totally guilty.... though we do try to limit it to 3 shows overall that he can watch, and 30 mins or less daily.

Scratch, Pacer, anyone else racing today - kick ass, make us proud.

Duck - nice pics, also one of our favorite hikes: close to town, easy to do, yet the finish is hard enough to make you feel like you accomplished something, the view is great, plus the "Beware of Rattlesnakes" sign at the trailhead. Re: Treatment center, have just heard rumors and seen the computer rendered video, am very excited to see the finished product, and they'd better hurry, football is just around the corner!

run this morning was teh suck. Went out intending to do 5, only managed 3.25 before I had to stop and walk home. nothing left. Gotta regroup today for my long run tomorrow.

Mandy - happy birthday.

Off to get coffee and the new Harry Potter book.

I have never done a bug run.....hmmmm.....do you have to dress up or bring a bug or what?

So, my 5 recovery last night sucked. they always do. I am about out the door for a long run. I got up at 430 and ate. I just had woken up and thought, well, might as well eat. I have never eaten half asleep before. I was done before I realized I had really started. Fun. 4 hours might be a little much in between. Maybe I'll have something real small.

Good luck to all the racers!

So my race this morning...I WON!! That is career victory #2 - they are few & far between! I'll post a detailed (and likely boring) report later, but the time wasn't what I wanted (18:46 - had wanted to be under 18:00) because the course was 3.25 miles instead of 3.1 miles and it was a hilly mutha. Plus with no mile markers and only one dude in front of me the first half, I was more concerned with racing than with time. Regardless - since this was the first annual race, I am officially a course record holder! The only bummer? I talked to the race director and he said next year they might give fireman helmets to the winner since the race benefits the firefighter's association and Muscular Dystrophy - if word of that first place prize gets out, no way will I win again! How sweet would that be - I would saunter into the bedroom wearing that helmet and nothing else...PacerWife would go nuts for me! "Excuse me, miss - but do you have a fire down below? Shall I whip out my hose and save you?"

Anyway - just wanted to pop in and let you know that I rock! ccasion5:

Good morning all! Taking a couple of days off to rest my body, it's been crying for some rest. I'll hit the trail tomorrow for a good run. Got the lift glass for the truck fixed, thank doG! In-laws left this morning after spending a few days here. Today I'll be taking my pooch to meet some other ridgebacks at a local breeder's house. Should be fun!

Good luck to today's racers!

God Brandy could I be any more of a f-up! Of course I meant "big". Just call me the king of typos. I think I hold the record. Why do you think I became a chef?

Chris - way to go man!

So I decided to hop on the elliptical and bang out a hour workout. Done.

Breakfast time.

I'm meeting a friend for lunch this afternoon, a woman I used to work with who is pregnant with Baby #1. I already said this in the PRT, but I'm wondering about the etiquette of swilling cocktails while explaining that my kids are making me nuts. "cause they truly are.

Congrats, Pacer! You do rock.

It was beautiful around here so I ran outside for 5 miles. My back still hurts a bit, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Quick fly-by again - here at work on OT, so I can't dawdle too much. Will get in a run somewhere through Berkeley perhaps after work - aiming an easy 10-12 miles.

Way to Herbie Hancock-rock it Pacer...woohoo, congrats on the 1st! And good luck to you in your race Scratch!

Happy Birthday Mandy!!!

Congrats Chris!!! Perhaps PacerWife will be satisfied if you saunter in to the bedroom, sans fire helmet, but telling her you're a record holder?

Am preparing for my HP reading day. Bummer that it's beautiful out and I've ventured into the next stages of cold - severe congestion. Why won't it end? I'm really bored now. Want. to. run. (I'll probably do it anyway later, just won't enjoy it)
