Farging farg farg fargin fargidness farging farg!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. My brother got me free tix for tonight's Galaxy game in NJ (starring none other than his gorgeousness, DAVID BECKHAM).

2. He overnighted them to me.

3. They never arrived.

4. He left the tracking number in his office.

5. After 3 p.m., none of the drivers are still working... so even if we had the tracking number we couldn't do anything.

6. To get duplicate tickets printed at Giants' Stadium, we need a police report.

7. So I am not going. Too late to try to get there in time with traffic and all, and I don't even know if the box office would give me duplicate tix once I arrive.

FARG!!!!!!!!!!!!

In good news, I ran 8.5 this morning in 1:12:09 and felt great.

Congrats, Maples, Tom, Tim, Maria, Korbel... Hope I didn't miss anyone. Hugs to Diane and Mandy.

Happy weekend folks!

Ptom - Nice time! It takes a few mistakes to learn good tactics in a 5k - if you figgerit out, let me know the secret. My typical strategy is go out hard, hang on, try not to die and hope you don't pass out before you find the finish line!

Dom - Haven't read your report but nice job! I would have suggested going to the race - if a lot of people chose not to show, you'd feel like a badass and would place very high.

Maria - Speaking of badasses - nice finish to a long run! 70 miles?! You're getting lazy like Baggs! Some perspective - assuming I run 5 miles tomorrow, I will hit 70 miles and be damn happy about it.

Theia - If you want to see some hunkiness, let me know - I'll send you some pictures of myself!

No run at all today - I did my 17 last night and today was a planned day off. I feel lazy but after squeezing 65 with some quality in between Mon and Fri, the day off will be good for me. Easy day tomorrow and then back at it on Monday!

Happy weekend everyone.

Map - congrats on finishing the program.

Litch - In my case I just know I don't have the patience to raise kids. I do know of other people who have felt the same as I do who changed their minds later and are very happy, but I don't see that happening with me.

Phillytom - congrats on the race.

Ny Maria - congrats on the great long run.

Korbel - congrats on the PR.

Theia - sorry to hear about the tickets.

Well I have a good night planned. Myself and a few of my friends are going out on the town. I might drunken post from my Treo, but other then that I will catch you all tomorrow.

Theia - You might call the ticket office and see if they have an exchange/transfer program with print at home capabilities. He could then assign you the tix and you could print them out on your home printer at a nominal transaction charge. It's fairly common for pro sports teams and growing in popularity for college athletics.

I didn't recover quickly enough to be able and go see Hippo. I'm starting to feel better now, but it's too late to make the trip worthwhile. I've been wasting the day away on the couch watching Survivorman, bad NFL preseason games and some snippets of movies ( O' Brother and Godpapa 2).

Hey folks - I really was intent on doing a swim in the morning & an east run in the evening, but my parents asked me to watch the house (they had a shindig to go to and the contractor they hired is finishing up their kitchen remodel today and needed someone to be around.) Thus, I decided instead last minute to enter the hometown American Canyon 5K/10K event for the first time ever (2005 - didn't hear about it/last year - ITBS from SF Marathon kept me out.)

Nice when you can wake up normal time, eat a casual breakfast, and walk over to the starting area which was about 1/2 mile from my place. Barely over 100 showed up to run, but that apparently was the most ever and they ran out of paper bibs - I got an old-fashioned cloth bib with iron-on numbers (boy, did I feel like a goofball with that thing on!) and were down to T-shirt sizes of 3XL and S by the time I signed up.

Temp was mid-60s and sunny; the course was a 5K loop (10K folks did it twice.) Was uncomfortable the first mile, got comfortable, then did a Maria and got comfortable being uncomfortable last mile-and-a-half or so. No mile markers, but I was stunned to see a 24.xx time or so halfway. Generally flat course, but there's a hill I mostly avoid during training runs (with a 10%+ grade near the crest) that we had to freakin' run twice. Made sure to greet the few folks I did pass (mostly 5K types who were walking.)

The organization needs some work - they totally screwed up the overall winner on the women's side and several of the AG placings. Its funny how AG's work - one 10K guy I passed at mile 2 ended up 3rd in the 30-39. But the folks were all friendly, and everyone cheered as people crossed the finish line.

The bottom line - I demolished the 50 minute barrier and then some with a 47:48! With the last official 10K time a 52:21 back in February, that's almost a 5 minute PR. First time I can recall never being passed by anyone who didn't get out in front of me in the first place (ahh, the charm of small races.) And they say not to try anything new on raceday, but I broke in my Mizuno Precision 8s here - I totally forgot I was running in completely new shoes until a mile from the finish (folks in Wave Riders may want to give these a tryout next time around.)

Dang PTom - ya' sure are phast! Congrats on the AG and OA - actually, I thought of you today when I saw some of the young whipper-snappers on the course and how you give them a nice run for their money. And yummm...strawberry rhubarb pie sounds awesome.

You are posting some awesome times, Dom - congrats on a great race and beating your goal!

Sorry to hear about the attack, Duck, especially since you were going out to meet Hippo. But congrats on reaching your 13th anniversary with the DW

Kini - you know drunken posts don't count unless you register for a race to boot

{{{Theia}}} - sorry to hear about the tix; I hope you get to see Beckham soon in the future

Hi all,
Didn't want to get into this at work this week...b/c I haven't given my notice yet- but we got an offer on our house, we countered, they countered- now we are just trying to figure out a few things before giving them our answer. The thing is though- they want to close 9/14- we have a house lined up in Cali, but we don't have a closing date on it yet b/c we hadn't sold OUR house. Now, we have to see if we can get our buyers to wait until the end of Sept- which would be ideal...and see what we can work out on the house in Cali we're wanting to buy. Very stressful, and it doesn't help that DH were fighting via text and email this week. He said things will be better once we move (certainly I will see him more), but I've just been very unhappy and stressed- feeling like too many balls are in the air. And, since I had surgery and can't exercise- I have no outlet.
He just flew in from London and I'm in a pissy mood b/c of everything going on- we are going to go out to dinner tonight and I think I just need to be clear that I can't continue this long distance thing much longer. The first year of marriage is hard anyway, but having someone you see 2 days a week sucks.
I really don't want to be a whiner on here- sorry- I just really can't explain how I'm feeling to anyone right now. I saw Moe for a quick visit last night and we took Penny for a walk- it helped. I've just been lonely, stressed, and miserable. Because he is SO busy with work (like 18 hr days), I think he doesn't realize how hard it is for me- having to keep the house in "show" condition, not being able to run, not knowing when we are moving, having to continue at work like things are normal and at the same time wondering when will things get easier...

Wow, Moon, that is awesome!

My girl and I went for a walk to the library, which was nice, but slow. I'm planning to do a long walk tomorrow morning.

In other news, I got carded at the liquor store this afternoon! I was so flustered! It took a minute for me to figure out that I was supposed to hand the nice man my license, and then I was blushing and saying, "Oh, wow" and I might have actually told him that I love him. OK, I did tell him that. But he looked like Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness, so who can blame me? Made me feel a little less old and dumpy.

{{{{{{KJ}}}}} I am so sorry that things are so rough right now. Hang in there.

Way to go, Moon!!

Duck, no one answered at Giants' Stadium. (They might be there now, but I am more than 2 hours away AND would have to make a stop on the way to pick up my cousin. Yes, Trevor... that cousin.) The recorded message said very clearly that you need a police report to get tix replaced if they are lost or stolen, and without the tracking # UPS can't give us any kind of written proof that they were supposed to deliver them today... But thanks for the thought.

I'll be SO psyched when the tickets arrive on Monday, though! Wow! How cool! New bookmarks!!! <--- sarcasm

Congrats Korbel on a nice 5k!

Maria!!! Great mileage! holy cow!

{{Duck}} and Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. Duck.

{{Melissa}} They keep pulling me back in!

Keriksen: 14 miles! Way to go!

{Theia}: total bummer about the tix.

Wow! Moon! that is a big PR for you!

KJ: congrats on the impending sale of your house. hope the rest gets sorted out before you blow a gasket.

I'm all soccered out. Final count was 6 games today. My 10YO came in 2nd in his division! He scored 4 goals today alone. He's actually quite a site to see on the field. Proud I am.

Well I just got back from my individual time trial style run.

Originally, my training plan called for an 8-15K race today. I couldn't find a race of that distance locally, so I decided I would do an individual time trial style run. Since the last time I did one of these runs, I did it over my normal 10 mile course, and cut the last mile off, I figured i'd do the same today. That way I could compare the two.

When I got out there, I felt pretty good. At mile 5 I was just 8 seconds off my 5 mile PR, and at 10K was just 15 seconds of my 10K PR, so I was going pretty well.

When I finished the 9 miles I was much faster than last time. But I just had to finish off the last mile of the 10 mile loop. Why you ask?

Simple.

I just set a new PR for 10 miles!

By my back of the napkin calculations (which I'll get more accurate later) it was 1:10:34. A new PR by 2:18. And the previous PR was over the same course, so the this run definitely compares favorably to that.

EQ is a happy camper right now.

By the way all, I've run the numbers through the computer. Officially it's a 1:10:38.3.

Big Congrats Moon on a HUGE PR! Wow!! Sub 50?? Impressive dude.

EQ Great job! I don't think I'm disciplined enough to do what you did. That's tough to do alone. Much easier in an actual race!

I'm watching New World- movie about the Jamestown (VA) settlement. Very cool since I have been there and read a whole book all about the archaeological excavations there. Just makes so much sense! And Colin Ferrel- yummy. Which reminds me... Sorry Theia. That sucks. Would you like a brownie? (Seriously.. I got plenty!)

Me too! These back to back 50+ mile weeks with 20 mile long runs have finally caught up to me. I feel tired and lathargic. My legs are officially sore!

Maria & Pacer & EQ way to go with the 70+ mile weeks. I'm not there yet.

Kris - way to go with the 14 miler. It's always exciting to run into uncharted territory.

Official run stats from this morning: 20.58 miles - 3:08:56 (9:10 mm pace). It was basically a survival run. Pretty ugly.

Nice run Dom!

Nice 10 mile PR EQ.

Way to go Moon.
